I don't hate Anita. I'm just generally indifferent when it comes to her. I also don't care for the other two names you mentioned either.

I personally can't stand her a lot of the time, but the hate is so extreme, so kneejerk, so disingenuous, and often coming from a place of such recalcitrant bigotry that I can't help but defend her, not because I agree with her, but because I respect her right to self-expression within reasonable limits (which she's stayed within) whenever it rears its head. Not to mention the tiresome scapegoating which only helps spread her name because of the Streisand Effect instead of just letting her disappear into the ether.

If a lot of the haters really had problems with her on a philosophical level instead of just using her an easy punching bag they wouldn't engage in this kind of behavior and conspiratorial thinking (or giving her free publicity because they can't curb their id for a single second).

The rabid fans of hers who follow her philosophy to the T and harass people for not agreeing with her 100% are also deserving of scorn, but guess which faction is by far the more noxious and vocal of the two.

It's kind of funny and pathetic how those people pretty much turned Anita into their personal Moby Dick, unaware of how Ahab's own obsession with the white whale ended up. And depending on how you interpret the book, he didn't even manage to kill the whale.

It's never been about Anita. It's about Nerd Culture being inherently toxic. This is why we have things like the Rabid Puppies for sci-fi and people freaking out about Thor being a woman in comic books. Or hell, and this is before my time paying attention to any of this, the way the Atheist community reacted to [1]. The womz and the minorities started saying "can we talk?" and Nerds said resoundingly "NO!!!!"

No, that's not fair. It's never good to think these people are actually in power or have anything meaningful to say. hbomberguy summed it up best when Sargon did his petition - "are you starting to feel the darkness closing in as you realize your ideas make no fucking difference and the world isn't changing around you?" People swarm to Sargon and other antifeminists because they realize the outside world does not tolerate their bullshit. They need to cling to delusions of relevance. That's why they keep making videos about how they won. Yes Black Pigeon Speaks, you have finally succeeded in your desire to reduce woman to sex slaves....but only in the fantasy land of you and your tiny, putrid corner of the Internet.

You Tube is a depressing place where transgender teenagers receive harrassment for literally years on end. That makes me really sad, as does all the videos I've seen from literal children going "lol, triggered feminist!" and "Hitler did nothing wrong!" But sadly, hate groups will always manage to ruin a few lives. I look at this video when I need to feel like YT isn't lost to hope:

Look at that, over 600,000 Likes. Lets you know that YT is still mostly a decent place. It's just that progressives aren't as good at targeted hate campaigns as reactionaries. (GG and the last US Presidential election proves this)

So yeah. Carl has blamed a guy committing mass murder on feminism, tweeted rape threats at a member of UK Paliament and doxxed a random woman for wearing a "Feminist" shirt. "Garbage human" is the best way to describe him.

Also, if anyone here sees a member of the Cuckvengers Super Team, you're lucky. I have to try and make it next year. I need to meet the other Nick who is much better looking and smarter than me.

More on-topic (to complete the discussion-killing), it does look like that "Gangnam Style" is about to be dethroned as the most viewed video on the site in the next month or so. The contender is the music video for "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa. The gap between the two is just over 30 million views, and steadily closing.

Can people here really not be bothered to migrate discussion?

Also, why "See You Again" of all things? I mean, I know why, but still, Gangnam Style may have sounded like Pitbull after learning Korean, but at least had a wacky music video. "See You Again" is just a bog-standard pop song.

For what it's worth apparently Hbomberguy took this to make a video on one of the guys. Dunno about everyone else but I'm just kind of mixed on this.

For their part, Dan looks extremely not amused and Bomber seems to be almost hiding his face.

I think it's just an attempt at the old proverb of "know thine enemy", though I'd say Contra's caption ("the culture war is real") is not helping.

I assume Contra meant it as a bad joke. I think this will probably blow over fairly quickly.

I wish them good luck. And hope that this doesn't end badly.

I'm not happy about this. Debate, fine. Private meal, fine. Putting two pics of it as "a fun time", not fine. Honestly really disappointed in them, considering they've said so much about how one should not advertise engaging enemies on "friendly" terms because it comes off as normalization. And disappointed considering I met Dan in person that day before knowing about this. If he genuinely didn't want to be there, then he should say so at least after.

I'm just really mixed about this. Lindsay got heat for it and now she's taking a short break from Twitter after being a bit apologetic, Contra was ignoring it a bit, Hbomberguy stated he was doing a video on one of them so I guess it might've been research (and apparently that Shoe person who posted a transphobic video is delisting it), and Dan Olson has stated nothing about it whatsoever.

I just...I don't want this to be something that'll result in either of them losing any credibility or respect from their viewers. I respect all of them too much that I want to believe this is something they'll either regret or learn from or something positive. I'm already subbed to three of them, I don't intend on unsubbing, but I'm just...it leaves a weird knot in my stomach.

If anyone on "that side" is worth talking to, it's Skeptic and sh0e. I've been in a chat with sh0e and she was recently commenting on a Milo Stewart video, mocking all the trolls there to berate him. She was also the one who got Sargon to take down the tweet of the woman he doxxed, or so I heard.

Their ideology is laziness more than outright hate or malice. That is not to excuse them but, well, there are actual Neo Nazis and Christian Identity folks who come around and reform. If they can manage it, I like to think Skeptic and Sh0e can, too.

I don't hold this against Contra or the others whatsoever. Compared to Laci Green taking a picture with the guy who blamed her for Elliot Rodger, this is fucking nothing.

So, I've been reading the linked Reddit thread, and ultimately I'm on the side of "this isn't a big deal", but I can understand others who may not think the same.

I think its safe to say that I am not interested in this. I'm not subscribed to any of the youtubers there.

If you're not interested than why bring it up? Feels kind of unnecessary.
