@ 3od4: That may be true, but a lot of work will be needed to restore English-Scottish relations, and to let off the enmity, or even hatred, stirred up by the Referendum.

I'm not so sure about that; there'll always be a few people who're bitter everyone disagreed with them, but this was hardly a civil war.

And I don't know, I didn't watch them. They were all being tweeted by accounts with "Libertarian" in the name, so....

Police in Glasgow are investigating about 10 ballots that were supposedly cast "twice" with fraudsters impersonating the real voter. No word on which way they went, though if it really is just the 10 then it isn't like it matters as regards the result (though obviously the perps should be caught). There were pictures shared on twitter of a Yes vote on a No table in Dundee, but Yes Scotland themselves debunked that one - they were just resting on the table before being moved on.

@Flanker, have you listened to Brown's speech? It is terrific. Everything he wasn't in 2010.

Congratulations, Scotland, and to the whole of the UK. You proved that working together is more desirable than breaking apart, and thus set a very strong precedent to dissuade future Balkanization attempts in Europe.

Hmmm: it could help that he's not answerable to the spin machine or opinion polls on this, so is actually saying what he believes.

Dead if it helps, german newspaper sites are not much better, just crawling with Af D fanboys.

Maybe we should adapt it into a general comments section disclaimer, covering newspapers globally as well as You Tube and the like.

Assuming the thing wasn't entirely stage managed, he's doing precisely the opposite of what he did on the campaign trail in 2010; rather than being surrounded by SPADs and union heavies, he's in there with his activists speaking directly.

Gordon's speech was great, I wonder if not having the stress of being PM is part of what enabled him to speak so well.

In a resounding display of unity and faith in the establishment, only 45% of the population has voted for secession.

And speaking about a subject he obviously cares about a great deal. Rumour is that Brown will try running for leadership of Scottish Labour.

They suggested on the Daily Politics today that Gordon Brown may run for leadership of the Scottish Labour Party. Could be interesting.

That's one heck of a freaking wake-up call. They had better keep their promises.

Personally I'd be more surprised if he didn't.

So, it is finally over. Scotland remains a part of the United Kingdom. However it will end, I hope things work out for Scotland and England and Wales and stuff! Keep it awesome. Hope nothing bad comes out of all this.

I'm torn at the suggestion, on one hand I think it would be great for both Scottish Labour and Scotland, on the other I once had a dream that involved being chased across the Kentish countryside by special ops people, in Black Hawk helicopters, from an independent Scotland lead by Gordon Brown.
