The supervisor and the company head have the same last name.
Nepotism at its finest?
Somehow, this doesn't surprise me at all, that the company fired him because he valued a person's life more than their liability insurance. Also doesn't surprise me that they fired all the rest of the lifeguards who agreed with him.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswUpdate: They offered him the job back. He turned it down.

<><Honestly, you should be blaming this on the fact that some people really do sue the people who rescue them. They wouldn't need such an insurance policy if that wasn't a real threat.
I don't care. I wouldn't want to be protected by a lifeguard who would ignore a drowning person out of fear of liability.
<><Then all lifeguards go out of business and everyone drowns because no one can can afford to employ them.
That's why the law needs to be changed so that such stupid results do not occur.
A brighter future for a darker age.I hope he and those who lost their jobs supporting him finds a good work elsewhere.

It's sad to say I'm not even surprised by this. How many company owners care about anyone but themselves? Thats's how they make it so far.
My PM box is always open to anyone who wants to talk/vent.Well, yes, companies that don't care about themselves die off pretty quickly.
Ah, this reminds me that just last week a guy at my work place had a heart attack and management refused to let anyone give him CPR. Also told everyone to "work around the body", and that is their exact phrasing. Paramedics took their sweet time too, showing no signs of being in a hurry. Ultimately, although they successfully resuscitated him, the oxygen deprivation left him pretty much brain dead, and they pulled the plug on him a few days ago.
So yeah, this isn't really a remotely isolated sort of thing. Also, we have really stupid paramedics around here who should be fired with extreme prejudice. Man lying on the floor dying, sorta already dead since he's not breathing, might want to hurry it up a bit? No? Just gonna leisurely walk down the hallway? Okay then, carry on good sir, as you surely you know best.
Jesus Christ.
You don't still work there, do you?
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I think the management should be charged with manslaughter in that case. What's the name I this company so that we can start telling people about this?

Wow, that's the dumbest thing I've ever read. Great job, lifeguard company. Keep on truckin'.
Ah, America, how I hate hate hate FUCKING HATE WITH THE FURY OF A THOUSAND SUNS you.
Yeah that's a company policy that won't survive the rest of this week.
