Just watched first episode of Campione!:

Kusanagi Godo is a 16-year-old high school boy, who once killed the god "Verethragna" and acquired the title of "Campione (god killer)" when he was 15. Erica Brandelli is a 16-year-old Italian girl, who is a "Great Knight" of the magic society "Bronze Black Cross" and had fought together with Godo to defeat Verethragna. Godo doesn't like fighting but his title of "Campione" makes him get involved in battles against other Campiones and uncontrollable gods.

So yeah how is the first episode? Pretty damn awesome I have to say! It focuses on Goudou meeting Erica, learning about heretic gods and getting involved with Verethragna (God of Light who REALLY likes to fight), we learn about Godou power to steal gods power, some hilarity ensues between our main characters and the episode ends with them getting into middle of a duel between gods and Godou becoming Campione.

It's a pretty solid first episode, it manages to establish the setting and characters pretty well, we get some humor and action and it ends on particularly awesome cliffhanger that left me waiting for the next episode.

The setting looks interesting, it has this urban-fantasy felling that reminds me of To Aru.

The characters seem pretty solid. Godou is instantly likable and has promise for real badassery while Erica.. well you see. Honestly speaking I was expecting another out-of-the-mold Magical-GF-Tsundere, and while she has some of that, she for sure managed to positively surprise me.

Will I keep watching Campione! ? Hell yeah I will!

Do I recommend it? If you like Action/Fantasy with liberal doses of humor and maybe some romance, check it out.

Interested in your input guys! Discuss away!

Really don't have a handle on Erica as of yet. She seemed to go through the character arc your average Tsundere takes the entire series to enact in a single episode. Which is good because of genericness-avoiding, but bad because it means I have a really hard time getting inside her head.

But- judging from how much I'm looking forward to the next episode, I'll probably stick around for this one.

I like the setup so far, but want to see more execution. I'll likely hang onto this one.

I agree on the whole generic Tsundere character arc reenactment in one episode thing.

I kinda happy we got that over with. By now I could write such character arc from memory.

When She kissed him I was like "O_O this usually doesn't happen until we are 3/4 into the story."

But that's good. I like me some innovation.

I'm torn. The effects are top-notch and the setting is interesting, but the pacing feels lousy and the characters have no depth. "Prometheus" is very fitting.

The voiceover at the end was so god-awful that I almost want to drop the series just because of it.

Looks like we have some Unlimited Blade Works going on, and that final scene reminds me of the fate of a certain Rose Bride, but so far all it's doing is reminding me of other series' that I'd rather be watching.

In summary: Meh, but with room for improvement. For now, I too will be waiting for Godou.

This anime does seem to be decent.

I see great potential for Unlimited Blade Works jokes to get old, but it really did look like that Reality Marble.

I don't see this anime being boring or terrible. Action scenes bordering on Narm occasionally, but hey that's par for the course with anime like this.

So... If I'm reading this right, he just took that god's divinity. Does that mean he's still going to be a recurring character? Could be interesting to see him brought down to normal.

He only took one of his powers, so he should still have enough powers left for Godou to take one every episode (not counting the inevitable and inevitably terrible Beach Episode). Unless, of course, he's dead.

I hope he's dead.

(I'm not spoilering this since the protagonist's God-slaying predilection was part of the basic series description.)

It looks decent so far, but that kind of Accidental Pervert gag needs to either die already or take a really long rest. And really, that copied attack was just shameless.

Mongrels!

But yeah. One of the dumbest accidental pervert moments since Louise, particularly since the witch did it. But hey, at least she isn't a certain robed headcrab.

I can see the Japanese going "Ah ha ha, let's put an Accidental Pervert touching gag here! And a Tsundere punch! Man, this shit never gets old!" while writing this kind of thing. Then they pat themselves on the back over how funny they are.

Well, I can tolerate it so long as the scenes are so short I can just pretend they didn't happen.

I really liked it. Unlike most other Tsundere jokes, this one actually made me laugh because of the way it was set up (oh, Arianne, you magnificent Troll, you).

[up] You... Liked it?

...

I thought you hated all that kind of thing.

Didn't that just make it worse because the witch did something pointless that just resulted in the main character getting abused?

It's the set up that made it funny.

Aside from the fact that she obviously was a troll the moment we first see her (being all teasing and shit) I'm not surprised.

Troll characters are annoying unless they are either very good at it or compensate with other qualities. Setting up a standard Tsundere routine is hardly impressive trolling, and there hasn't been shown enough of the characters to know if the witch will stand out.

Yeah, troll witch was the least impressive character so far... and considering that there's a bog-standard Tsundere in the mix, that's a dubious honor indeed.

I don't want to spoil you guys but trust me, Erica is far from your average tsundere. If anything, she's a reverse tsundere.
