The Gate of Lords

Phoebus ceased fire as the demon sidestepped his attack. Seeing the streams of red light clearly not meant for benevolent purposes flying towards him, Phoebus tried bobbing and weaving to dodge the attacks, though a few would definitely strike.

Using both hands to grip the lower end of the spear, Phoebus swung the still burning spear blade in a wide arc. The blade released flames as it was swung in front of Phoebus, in the hopes that the magical fire would destroy some of the incoming light and either strike or knock back the demon advancing toward him.

The demon backed away from the fire, but did a sudden twist around when it was struck by Carwyn. Hissing from the wound, it moved to his side and tried to strike at him.

Billie easily dodged away from the light bursts, then seeing that Phoebus' fire wasn't doing much she decided to attack the demon with the opposite element again and thrust her fist out, spiky ice chunks floating off of the ground and hurtling towards the demon.

When the demon went to attack him, Carwyn decided to try a risky move. When it moved to strike, he tried to roll under its reach and slash at it before rolling further away from it.

Though the ice chunks were dodged, they had served their purpose and distracted the demon. It was struck by Carwyn's attack while attempting to avoid them, and took a step back. It attempted to pursue him for a moment before suddenly turning and charging straight at Billie, its arms readying to strike.

By this point, two of the academy doctors had arrived. They looked over the dying man, and then began to treat the wounds. "He's in a bad state." one doctor said. "Try to keep the demon away until we've got him stabilised."

Phoebus saw the demon charge at his fellow ice-wielding Orbkeeper. Hoping to stop the demon before it reached her, Phoebus ran behind the demon and leapt forward with his spear aimed to run through the beast's back.

The demon rolled backwards in reply and reached for the spear with one arm while striking at Phoebus with the other.

Phoebus recoiled and cried out briefly as the spear was taken from him and the demon struck him quickly.

Falling backwards, Phoebus got up and lit the entire spear on fire as the demon held it, shooting a fireball from his other hand at the demon's chest while it was still facing him.

The demon ran forward and used the spear to do a sort of pole vault over the fire, though it still got burnt on the the way down. Its eyes seemed strangely off-colour, and this became more visible for a moment when it summoned as many of the strange, glowing lines from the floor towards Phoebus.

Carwyn moved around the edge of the room and, as the creature attacked, ambushed it from behind, ramming both claws into its back, intending to move around it when it attempted to attack back.

Seeing the lines moving towards himself, Phoebus took a running start and jumped at the demon. As he reached the height of his leap, Phoebus pushed himself forward by using fire as propulsion to drive him forward at the demon, the wings on his back flared out to intimidate.

Phoebus reached forward, one hand clenched into a fist to strike the demon's face. The other hand was open, shooting a fireball before reaching its fingers out to retake Phoebus' spear.

The demon let the strike send it moving forwards and rolled straight below Phoebus in the hopes of letting the two combatants strike each other.

Not waiting to see whether it had worked, the demon spent a second or two readying another spell, and cast it almost instantly. Unlike the last ones, this one ripped the floor in an area to pieces instead of summoning forth more lines, and sent debris and dust flying.

One did not get used to attacking from behind without taking some precautions. Carwyn slammed his claws into the broken floor and closed his eye before tearing them out and attacking again. Notably, he seemed to pounce at the demon, but this was not his intention outright, and he readied himself to hit the demon if it tried to dodge, not as one normally would when pouncing at something.

The demon took the blow but then retreated into the dust, where it roamed, doing its best to avoid anything that could be an Orbkeeper. It concentrated on destroying another part of the floor nearby, then moved into the new dust and waited for someone to draw close.

Billie leapt into the dust cloud, keeping her body low as she cupped her hands to her mouth. Aiming into deeper parts of the cloud she breathed out deeply, her breath coming out in a long stream of blue gas that froze what it touched.

Greg decided to take a more physical approach. He raced towards the demon and attempted to stab it with his gleaming silver survival knife, aware that the demon was bracing itself for an attack. The dust cloud was illuminated by Greg's glowing glassy body. Someone was in the cloud! Billie? There was no time to stop. Greg closed his eyes and prepared for impact.

The demon took advantage of the short range of the weapon and reached for Greg's arm before the knife was within range of anything but the wooden arms, while reaching for his other arm with its own spare. It kicked the ground as it did so, though what this was supposed to do wasn't immediately apparent.

Billie skipped back as Greg nearly impacted with her, but he was stopped in his tracks by the demon. Dodging around its kick to the ground she ducked down under it and started slashing at its belly with her claws.

Andel sighed, his draining was going slowly since he was siphoning not draining. He may have increase Khaine's strength but the demon just had too much life force. Andel stopped the siphoning and simple focused on draining the life force directly which would be faster but wouldn't provide any boon to his fellow orb bearers.

He drew an arrow as he focused and, as he drew back to fire, muttered an incantation. As he loosed the arrow at the demon he finished the spell and the arrow glowed bright, he had infused it with enough energy to pierce most armors he'd ever been set against. He wondered if it would be enough to pierce the demon at it's target destination, the position Andel assumed it's heart would be at.

The demon was struck by both arrows and claws and abandoned its attempt to attack Greg, but just as it began to fall back more lines of light shot up all around it. While the lines were rising, the demon got back to its feet and began striking wildly, aiming for Billie.

Billie half-growled and fought back, encasing her arms in ice. The deman managed to claw her face, but she ignored the wound as she punched at him with a fortified fist.

"Damn, should I step in?" Vann questioned his own stance. The battle was vicious, terribly so, and Billie got wounded, "But... transforming here..." His fists clenched in uncertainty.

Vann put on the hood of his jacket, "I suppose just watching will dishearten her at this point." He began to charge his orb.

Phoebus also got up after flying forward and hitting the floor. Picking up his spear, Phoebus tossed fireballs at the demon relentlessly.

The demon got sent backwards from the blow from Billie, but got up quickly and attempted to dodge around her evasively. If it could keep close enough, then aiming ranged weapons would run the risk of hitting Billie. It attempted to block melee blows with its arms, though thanks to it being distracted, these attempts were less successful than they would normally have been.

"Got it," Lionel said to the medics with a nod before dashing back into the the room.

He ran over to the cabinet, and quickly summoned every pen he could find, as well as a few binders... Anything plastic that belonged in the room, as well as his fallen plastic scouts. He'd need to go shopping after this... If he survived.

Ink, cardboard and metal fell to the floor as Lionel wrung the pure plastic from all the objects he'd summoned, fusing them into a single blob, one his powers made malleable. Hopefully the others would keep the demon distracted long enough for Lionel to mold something out of it. It shouldn't take too long...
