Can't you hate TDI even more, or is it too easy of a target?
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."Too easy since that's been on since 2006 or so.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceTD only inspires a deep indiference from me.
I hate TD depending on the episode. Meanwhile Bile Fascination keeps bring me back here.

Okay, here's the very strange thing I've noticed about this series. People seem to hate it. Now hear me out, I think it's okay to hate it, but I've seen people hating it for the wrong reasons. The reason I'm talking about is, "It's not like the old series."
Here's the thing. It's not like the old series because it's not supposed to be like the old series. It's a separate entity on its own. I myself enjoyed the original series a lot, but I also like the new series. Yes, it's different in tone. Yes, the characters have pretty much flanderized personalities. But, aside from the legitimate complaints about the flaws, like the humor not being to certain people's liking, saying it's not a good series because it ignores the previous series is kind of sad.
I myself love the Scooby-Doo series, but every series is different from the other. Some by only a small margin, but others are extremely different. And yes, there's been a stinker or two, but, compare Scooby Doo Where Are You with A Pup Named Scooby Doo, The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby Doo or Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. All four are quite different in tone, but all four have something that makes it good or fun, in differing degrees, yes, but they're still series in their own right.
That's how I'm able to enjoy Teen Titans Go. I don't see it as a continuation of the original, I see it as just a brand new series.
Signatures are for lamers. That's nice, but I'm fairly certain we all have come to terms with it. The sadist in me just keeps forcing me to watch the show to see how bizarrely twisted they've made my childhood icons that day. Sometimes I enjoy, sometimes I loath it. Although I end up far more on the hate side of things with this show then I do with TD.

Personally I really like Teen Titans Go, it even got me to try out the old Teen Titans, which well after watching the first episode I found out I really didn't like.
Tealove is best pony.Pony Fanon IndexIf you were on any other forum I would have recommended preparing for a flamewar and trolling of epic proportions but luckily your on TV Tropes and you *should* be safe here.
OAMSN, I would like say that I'm interested in your opinion as I've honestly never heard anyone else with it. Is there any specific reason you're not fond of the original show, or is it just that "I watched this version first so I like it better" type of thing?

I like Go, but I'd like it more if they spent more time parodying actual superhero tropes and plots and less time showing the Titans to be monumental jerkasses.
It's probably partly that, but also it felt like the original assumed you already knew about all the characters since it didn't really make an attempt to explain who they were. TTG does the same but it's more focused on comedy so I can forgive it. Which also leads into that the attempts of the original's at humour fell flat for me. The animation felt weird as well especially when it went exaggerated.
Again I only tried the first episode so I don't know if the problems I had would persist.
Tealove is best pony.Pony Fanon IndexUnfortunately, that's the only trope they know how to use.
Well, first off, the animation went that way due to it being inspired by the Japanese anime boom of early '00. The exaggeration is a staple to the form of animation. In fact, the fact TTG's characters are in a smaller scale is based on Chibi animations.
Also, I know you have yet to see it, but there IS an origin story in the OS.

Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceAnyway the zanny animesque art style persists throughout the show but you get use to it after a little while. While the show doesn't give you their back stories right away it does develope the characters nicely. I'd highly recommend watching a few more episodes to get into the feel of the show.
Only if you want to of course. I'd actually understand if the first episode turned you off from the show total. I personally never considered that episode to be very good. It admittedly was odd how they jumped right into the action without really explaining anything. Minus that and maybe a couple of other flunky episodes the show still manages to be in my top 10 action/adventure animated series. Again just my opinion.
When I was young, and this first came out, I was just happy to see sidekicks become the main focus and not need Batman and the Justice Leauge to guide them.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceIt helps that they turned down the animeesque emphasis a bit as the series went on, or kept overuse to specifically humorous episodes. Even when I was younger, though, the "hey look, we're anime" vibe I got from the series rubbed me the wrong way.
Not specifically because of that, but I also got turned off by the first season when I first saw this show - luckily I came back to the series later. Still, this show seriously suffered from first season problems.
But... the only sidekick in the Titans lineup this series uses is Robin.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Wasn't BB's sidekick status brought up in Doom Patrol episode?
Old series had lines like Raven being jealous of BB gaining a hundred tons of weight.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."BB was the Kid-Appeal Character of his team, but I wouldn't call him a sidekick.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah he was mostly treated as an equal by the rest of The Doom Patrol if I remember correctly. In Mentos' case even during times when it would have been more appropriate to treat him as a son. Wasn't Mentos' treatment towards Gar the reason he left though? He was drunkard who expected way to much from a 10 (?) year or something like that, right?
Not in the cartoon. In that, Mento was holding Beast Boy back, and that's why he quit.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatReally? It looked like he was pushing him to hard and wouldn't show any sign of being proud of him, even in the cartoon.
To celebrate coming back to Thursday night after TDI was done, All weekend there will be a TTG marathon of all existing episodes. Woohoo.

I see you: Raven is turning into Trigon, Cy & BB want to know her secret, and Robin and Starfire foil Dr. Light again. Just another normal day.
There's also a Scooby Doo cameo as well.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI actually really liked this episode. Robin was much less of a creep than usual and our "comedy duo" actually made me laugh a little.
I can't tell if I'm relieved or diapointed. I do love to hate this show after all.
