MOD NOTE: Please note the following part of the forum rules:
The initial OP posted below covers it well enough: the premise of this thread is that men's issues exist. Don't bother posting if you don't believe there is such a thing.
Here's hoping this isn't considered too redundant. I've noticed that our existing threads about sexism tend to get bogged down in Oppression Olympics or else wildly derailed, so I thought I'd make a thread specifically to talk about discrimination issues that disproportionately affect men.
No Oppression Olympics here, okay? No saying "But that's not important because women suffer X which is worse!" And no discussing these issues purely in terms of how much better women have it. Okay? If the discussion cannot meaningfully proceed without making a comparison to male and female treatment, that's fine, but on the whole I want this thread to be about how men are harmed by society and how we can fix it. Issues like:
- The male-only draft (in countries that have one)
- Circumcision
- Cavalier attitudes toward men's pain and sickness, AKA "Walk it off!"
- The Success Myth, which defines a man's desirability by his material success. Also The Myth of Men Not Being Hot, which denies that men can be sexually attractive as male beings.
- Sexual abuse of men.
- Family law.
- General attitudes that men are dangerous or untrustworthy.
I could go on making the list, but I think you get the idea.
Despite what you might have heard about feminists not caring about men, it's not true. I care about men. Patriarchy sucks for them as much as it sucks for women, in a lot of ways. So I'm putting my keyboard where my mouth is and making a thread for us to all care about men.
Also? If you're male and think of something as a men's issue, by golly that makes it a men's issue fit for inclusion in this thread. I might disagree with you as to the solution, but as a woman I'm not going to tell you you have no right to be concerned about it. No "womansplaining" here.

Is also a sort of mythologization of the rugged men who means hygene is seen as waste of time but a must do for woman(well kinda, we expect then to be clean but not showing it).
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Right, because clearly the biggest turn-on for women everywhere is a man who smells like a rancid sewer and who can’t properly wipe his ass. Do they seriously think their dirt and literal shit contains pheromones or something?
Oh, wait, they probably don’t care what women might actually potentially want and just expects life to hand them hot chicks because they deserve them for how awesome and alpha they are.
What a crock of literal shit to impart on others.
… Wait, don’t these people idolize vikings or something? Perhaps somebody should tell them that vikings were actually super-into maintaining their hygiene. (By that time’s standards, that is) I mean, these red-pillers/alt-righters would probably just dismiss it, but, you know…

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.I get that some like their men sweaty, but there are different ways of stinking.
Wake me up at your own risk.I've literally never seen anything like this where I grew up, so I'm lucky not to worry about it, I guess.
Watch SymphogearI look at hygiene and smelling good as a compliment to a muscular physique. If I look good, smell good and have good style, the women and men I'm interested in will look at me more.
Being stinky just communicates that you're lazy and don't care enough to maximize attractiveness.
EDIT: Funny thing about the soyboy thing is, it's not that kind of estrogen. It actually blocks estrogen receptors.
So chugging milk including whole milk is introducing a lot of crazy hormones. Which means the guys calling you a soyboy and talking up how much milk they drink are the ones actually feminizing their bodies.

Sign on for this After The End Fantasy RP.No, drinking milk doesn't "feminize" you. Let's not be so eager to dunk on assholes that we start making up the same tier of bullshit.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Milk is a muscle builder and helps with bone health, so no, it doesn't feminize anyone. Thats not how milk works.
Watch Symphogeardoes cause plenty of gas though.
Secret SignatureThats why I stick with Heavy cream and cheese instead. The lack of Milk sugar prevents it.
Watch SymphogearIn general, with some men there is this idea you must look...."Well", meaning strong, rugged, kinda well dress but not to obsess and as someone said, look must come natural to you, you CANT expend to much time grooming yourself otherwise you are metrosexual which let face it that just means gay.
I will said this also leak into a question of "okay, what happen when you arent inherely photogenic?" well....you can see inceldom, while a lot of in mysogony a lot of that is internalize hated about how they look and the prospect(well, lack of it) about getting woman.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Note that this doesn't just extend to the appearence, if it were then things would be solved by doing more exercise in general.
The root issue is what is considered "acceptable behaviour" between male peers and how some men try to latch into an artificial criteria to justify their manliness because that's the only way they can think themselves as worthy of respect.
It's no coincidence that incel behaviour is driven in part by misogyny and in part by self-hatred, while looks can be important to get someone to look at you, it's your personality and habits that keep that interest alive, and those two things can be harder to work on than one's body because it requires the courage to look at oneself at the mirror and accept what one is before changing for the better.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, maybe we should try to find the absolutes that tie us.Melissa Rockensies, 33, was all smiles as she left Queens court on Tuesday, as her plea deal will see her serve no jail time but will permanently hand over her teaching license.
She had been accused of grooming a young student at her school, sending him a slew of sexual messages while carrying out a year-long physical relationship where they would meet up for sex in her car.
Ugh....
You can't kill art.Not only should she have gone to prison, she should have lost custody of her kids. I'd say the same about Brock Turner, if he was a parent.
Rawr.That is absolutely VILE.
She grooms and rapes a CHILD and barely even gets a slap on the wrist for it?! She should’ve definitely gone to jail!
The bitch probably grinned from ear to ear knowing that she’s a Karma Houdini.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Uuuh, it's the Daily Mail. Better sauce please...
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI mean, there's the saying of "a broken clock can be right twice a day" but...
You can't kill art.The lawsuit — which seeks an undefined amount of damages — aims to hold school officials responsible for keeping children safe, said the mother's attorney Jonathan Cooper.
Yeah, doubt that would have happened if a male teacher assaulted that boy instead.
CAC: (Attempts to remove Twilight's bracer) To show I've changed, I'll free you!Male child rapists also reguarly receive incredibly light sentences, thought I suspect there is a bias in favour of female rapists. My memory is that in the U.K. it’s been found at being a man will on average get you a harsher set since for the same crime under the same circumstances.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranPretty sure I've seen such research on female vs male rapists for the US too. Although I'd still like a non-Mail source for this story.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOK, I guess. It's pretty undetailed on why they are starting off with a slap-on-the-wrist plea deal, though. I've seen such cases in Switzerland but none resembling this one.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe Patch article about the lawsuit is from January of this year. It's months out of date.
The Daily Mail one is the only recent one that details her getting a plea deal.
Edit:
And I don't know if it's deliberate or a truly unfortunate coincidence, but the headline of the Daily Mail article on Google News Search is shortened from:
"Married sex predator teacher, 34, grins as she escapes jail with sweetheart plea deal despite raping male student"
to
"Married sex predator teacher, 34, grins as she escapes jail with sweetheart plea deal despite raping male stud"
Yeesh.

Disgusted, but not surprised
It's fun to joke about but I honestly think it's a real problem that we sort of just expect young boys and teenagers to stink and be a bit gross. It's pretty common for boys to enter primary school not having been taught basic hygiene, including wiping. And hygiene becomes a thing you can go for decades not realising is an issue. You need people around you to mention it but people either get used to it, avoid you or are too embarrassed to say. It's a hard pill to swallow when you eventually meet someone tactless or confrontational enough to tell you. I'm not surprised people dig in rather then look back in the last decade of their lives in shame
