Ugh, I don't even want to deal with this. I'll probably just take it to the computer shop at the BX.
Google eyes Chrome on Windows laptop battery drain
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. This might be the source of the problem. Replacing the cable fixed everything, no trip to the BX necessary. Just glad it didn't start a fire.
On an unrelated note, while I was troubleshooting the PC, I opened her up and cleaned her out. Here is the air filter for my case fan.
LOL buy a thicker gauge power cable then.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Is it just me, or does that cable look like something chewed it?
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodThe cable was intact until I plugged it into a second computer (I have a spare PC, yes, I'm that kind of guy), then it threw a spark and there the gap was. Far as I can tell, it shorted out, but didn't melt through until I plugged the second PC in. Or I might have just Failed a Spot Check, but our cat doesn't tend to chew on solid things (he "plays the harp" on various objects and licks plastic bags, but that's it)
my charger was almost at that point. cheap piece of crap's cord was fraying.
Luckily, for some reason that part of the cord was interchangeable with the same section from my old laptop's charger so it worked out.
I'm baaaaaaackWhen my computer is giving me low memory warnings when I have few programs open, is it likely that the source of these warnings are long loaded Youtube videos on several tabs that have sat unwatched for a while?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.My computer gives me similar nag warnings, and I have no idea what is causing them (I have 8 gigs of RAM, which never appears to be within 2 gigs of being full when I look).
I'm trying to set up my outlook account with the email apps on my devices , but for some reason it's not working . It keeps saying that it's either unable to verify my account, or in the case if my laptop, I've already registered the information, which is untrue because otherwise it wouldn't prompt me to enter information for a new email account every time I tried to use the app and instead just send me to my email. So the only solution I can see so far is going through a browser to use outlook
So, I have an Iomega external HD that started making loud clacking sounds and then died on me (my computer don't detect it when plugged in)...is there anything I can do to recover stuff from it?
Depends on how much cash you have. Disc recovery services can run into the low thousands USD. I know because I had it done once.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Nothing on the HD is worth that much....I don't have that kind of cash right now anyways...
Xopher: You might need to set up an "App Password" for your Outlook account. A lot of Microsoft's online accounts now require some additional password set up for things like apps and X Box consoles to access your account, as a sort of second layer of security.
It's a right pain in the ass, BTW.

Dead power supply, dead motherboard are the two most likely options. Start with the power supply; it's the cheapest to replace by far, not to mention easiest. First, though, reseat all the power cables and blow dust out of everything.
