Alice, Bob, Carlos, and Dana added.
Anyway, while I do agree that the name is ambiguous, is there misuse? The problem seems to be underuse rather than miseuse, but I don't think this name would cause underuse.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Name is okay, but the description is turning back some potential examples. Maybe turn the current trope into a subtrope of Double Date (after a Trope Transplant to a new entry)
Is it a valid trope, though? Two couples going out on a date and sit on chairs seems a little... without meaning in itself. It's a decently common setting, though.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I do think "double date" (as in the real-world meaning of that term) is a trope, yes. Either A+B try to set up their friends C+D like this, or A only agrees on a date with B if she can bring her friend along.
It's a good idea to transplant this. It's a bad habit to name a trope after a real-world term while defining it as something different.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Yep, agreed. I suggest Double Date Quadrangle as a title.
Or merge this with Love Dodecahedron, and transplant the name.
What? No, this is different from Love Dodecahedron. Rename this to Double Date Quadrangle or something. And leave Doube Date as a redirect for something else entirely, like Dating Tropes.

The name implies that this trope is whenever two couples go out on a date together, however, going by the description it seems like the trope is much more specific, since it appearantly is when two characters are more interested in eachother than on their respective dates.
I can't really think of another name but I think this needs a new one.
Also, I think we should use Alice and Bob in the description instead of "A and B".
