I'd say "is abhorrent" is more specific than "is bad/scary," (though it's still quit broad). Reptiles Are Abhorrent is about the association of reptiles with villainy. One characters's fear of snakes should not be an example, nor would a komodo dragon chasing a character. It could probably use a better name.
If we wanted to note the trope in question when someone fears a snake or a bee, the trope would be Animal Phobia, perhaps with the specific subtropes of Fear Of Snakes and Fear Of Bees. If we wanted to note the trope in question when someone humorously runs from a gator or bee, the trope would be Chased By Animals, perhaps with the specific subtropes of The Log Is A Croc and Gosh Hornet. If we wanted to note the trope when villains use a lizard or bee as their symbol, the trope would be Animal Motifs, perhaps with the specific subtropes of EvilReptileImagery and Evil Bee Imagery.
But putting examples under "bees worsen things" or "reptiles worsen things," no matter what we name the pages, keeps us from noting the actual tropes in question.
Ooookay. 3000 inbounds, so this isn't a debate about whether or not we're nuking the trope. We're deciding what to rename the snowclone.
Looks like our best choices are Bee Afraid and Not The Bees. Crowner, or are there any other contenders?
"Pale Ebenezer thought it wrong to fight, but Roaring Bill (who killed him) thought it right." - Hillaire Belloc, The PacifistWhat? Yeah, we're going to keep Everything's Worse With Bees as a redirect, but that doesn't mean we'll keep the page exactly as it is now. If the current page is fine, why rename it at all?
I still say step one is deciding the definition that the page should cover.
"If the current page is fine, why rename it at all?"
Everythings Worse With Snowclones.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Yes, so something about the page is bad now. The snowclone made it bad. We can remove the snowclone, but we also have to remove the badness.
The title "Everything's Worse With Bees" created a page about things being worse with bees. That is bad. Changing the title to "Oh No Bees" removes the snowclone but keeps the page about things being worse with bees. That is still bad.
(All the other Everthings Worse With / Better With pages are similarly broken).

Fixing the name and fixing the description are two problems. They don't both have to be solved in the same stroke.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That's true.
Fixing the description is probably more important. The trope needs a definition. Then, we can discuss the best possible name.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.And locking due to same. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
That's not Reptiles Are Scary. It's about reptiles being used as a shortcut for Evil. Well, in very simplified terms.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.
