All I know is that this had better not lead to crossover shipping. If it does, I will kill someone.
But if it plays half as well as everything else Retro's done, it'll be fine.

Slippyx Ridley for OTP.
...Retro+Metroid=greatness is back.
Metroid+Star Fox....not sure if want.
You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.Cautiously eager.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.It could never work out between them.
Ridley's too big.
I have a message from another time...I forget, do frogs fertilize the eggs inside or outside the body?
EDIT: Looked it up, it's on the outside.

I see what you did there.
"Shepard raids Kai Leng's hideout. Eats his cereal." - Crimson Zephyrand Thanks for inserting that thought to mind...
But yeah, I am cautiously optimistic about the possibilities for this crossover.

Always looking for a good MMORPG with a great community...Mother Brain and Andross should totally team up. They both have so much in common, what with being giant, disembodied brains and all.
Actually, I was making a reference to Super Smash Bros. and how Ridley was rejected from being a playable character for being "too big" or whatever.
But anyways, I'm really more curious than anything as to what they could possibly do with this crossover... If it's real and not just an elaborate hoax or overblown rumor, that is.

"Shepard raids Kai Leng's hideout. Eats his cereal." - Crimson ZephyrI'm hoping maybe there was some miscommunication and it's actually a Metroid Prime-esque Starfox game. Like I said before, that would be perfect, especially if they give Fox that "Ninja Gaiden" type movement.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorIf they're gonna make a Metroid Prime type game, I'd rather they just make Metroid Prime. If Star Fox is to come back, it oughta be good old 64 style space shootin'.
Easy street has no parking signs. And improved land-combat.
I don't know what you would do to improve it, though. I liked it. I guess just do whatever the people who didn't like it would need to happen for them to like it.
Maybe remove the "hey, you gotta shoot down bogeys on Krystal's tail while you're on foot with nothing but a Blaster and Sniper Rifle" stuff.
Whatever else can be said of Sargosso and Sauria, I did like how you could switch between land and sky in the same level.
My favorite pointless trick was to eject, stand on the nose cone, and use homing rockets instead of the Arwing's actual weaponry. Then get back in before I went off the map and died.

I have a message from another time..."LEAVE METROID ALONE!"
I mean, yeah, it's Retro, they're amazing, but I don't think even they could do a crossover between the two well. Metroid has always been rather serious, while Star Fox, even at its most serious, is still rather campy.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I think this sums up why people didn't like Assault nearly as much as 64 pretty well.
In particular, paragraphs four through six are essentially my major gripes with it in a nutshell.

"Shepard raids Kai Leng's hideout. Eats his cereal." - Crimson ZephyrI can't really use the concept to judge how the game is going to turn out, not after a crossover involving colorful talking animals and a bunch of japanese pretty boys winded up to be one of the best games of its genre.
I'll say that if this rumor is true, then I'm glad it's in Retro Studio's good hands.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."You mean Pokémon Conquest? If not, then I'm honestly stumped at what crossover you mean. o.o
Well, if this crossover between Metroid and Star Fox is a real thing, I guess I'm gonna try it out before I throw around opinions. Because it does sound Crazy Enough to Work. And Retro does have pretty good people, so let's see what this will ultimately end as.
I really doubt this is true.
If they were to ever do a Nintendo crossover I'd rather it be a general Nintendo one in the vein of SSBB's Adventure mode. Just these two though sounds odd.
I think he means Kingdom Hearts.

That's exactly the one. If they made Final Fantasy and the Disney Animated Canon work togheter, then I don't see why 2 series that do have something in common wouldn't work togheter in any way.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Granted, the fanbase completely disregard the notion of anything Disney and focus mostly on the original characters.
I don't know how a Star Fox/Metroid game would work. A combination of Star Fox 64 and Metroid Prime's gameplay perhaps?
"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!@second point: That's what I often hear however I feel like that would appeal to neither side.
Stage 1 was Arwing, 2 was Land, 3 was a combination (ending with a dogfight), 4 was land followed by an on-rails segment and an all-range-mode boss, 5 was Arwing, 6 was land/air, 7 was air in the vein of Sector Z, 8 was land followed by an on-rails boss, 9 was land with a tiny bit of air, and 10 was Arwing.
I mean, I can see complaints about them doing it nearly half-and-half like that, if you went into it expecting all Arwing. I mean, sure. But I felt that the Arwing combat was handled just fine, and the on-land combat just needed some tweaking, like a better radar, or maybe an on-foot boss battle (as opposed to a Landmaster boss battle).
Honestly, I think the worst thing that could be said about Assault was "it could have been better." It certainly wasn't a bad game, and it is one of a number of titles that I had plenty of fun with, before I went on the Internet and found out that apparently it's not good.

I have a message from another time...I need to play Assault one day. One day.
Easy street has no parking signs. Can I just say that if Starfox did come out with a game that was just Arwing battles with a couple variations, people would still bitch about it?
Look at it like this, one of the reasons people love Starfox 64 was because of its age and arcadey feel. You simply cannot make that type of game anymore and expect it to sell. You have to make a game that includes much more than something that's simply "insert quarter, go as far as you can" or "press start, get the most points." I thought Assault was a good combination of that arcade shooter along with new additions such as land-based combat and missions. It wasn't great or fantastic, but I feel that it was on the right path.
What I'd really like is a Starfox game much like Mass Effect. I don't know if it was posted on a different thread on this forum or not, but there was a big article comparing Starfox's universe to Mass Effect, along with similar themes. I'd love to see a Starfox game with multiple, colorful worlds with a lot to do, and the freedom to create your own strategies to best take on the objectives.
But, I'd also be fine with having gameplay similar to that of Metroid Prime's along with it.
I dunno, Starfox just has so much potential as a series. It can do so much and Nintendo keeps giving it the short end of the stick.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -Wanderlustwarrior
Not enough Returns in that title.
But yeah, I think I'd rather see a new Star Fox first before we start delving into crossovers.
