I prefer the first one. It represents the game better, doesn't feel cut off like the short one does, and I find it funnier. Swearing isn't forbidden here; it's fine in quotes, and we have whole tropes like Atomic F-Bomb and that index.
True; that didn't register at first. I'd rather have the original one, with "real" swearing, since that is the original quote.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Except the version of #1 in the first post is Bowdlerised.
Same with me.

I'd say put the uncensored version of the longer caption up.
Just put the uncensored version, it's way funnier.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."I play with better graphics... :/
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.TV Tropes is supposed to be family friendly - that doesn't mean that we can't have any cursing, but seriously, the old "tourette caption" adds nothing of value to the article. Superfluous cursing is pretty much what we're trying to avoid per our Family Friendliness policy. Surely someone can make up something wittier than a bunch of shock words.
Uncensored caption is fine.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerJust use the uncensored version of the first choice.
What's the line from, anyway? I've tried searching for both the "tame" and "not tame" versions of the lines on Google, and the first result is almost always TV Tropes itself. In which case, "uncensored" would really just be swearing for the sake of swearing, which is rather crass. If this is an actual line that used a lot of "fucks", though, then I'm okay with the uncensored.
Moon◊I believe it was a user from 4chan.
The uncensored version is:
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I don't think we need to censor that.
I don't think that a user from 4chan is necessarily the best source for a page image caption, although I do find it funny (in both forms). Leave the uncensored version unless whoever started the edit war actually had a good reason for it that isn't "profanity is bad, mmkay?"
I think it's condescending in a way the game isn't. And as I mentioned, you can have better graphics, since it's easy to get a graphic patch for it. Or make one on your own. Also, I can dig.
It's simply false and gives the wrong impression of the game.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I'd like to respectfully disagree with some of that. Whilst I do not play DF, my brother does, and according to him the long version fits the attitude of the game better. The graphics are the default and have not been "improved" officially (though patches are readily available and the game is made to support them, as far as I can tell). And can any human dig like a dwarf? Apparrantly a lone dwarf can, in two days, dig to hell with a copper pickaxe.
Fair enough.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I used to play, then I stopped due to time issues.
I don't think a game where patches are accommodated for so they're very easy to make can accurately be described as fuck you.
The attitude is more like, "You're on your own,"* or, "Have fun!"
Now, I don't care about the profanity. I just thing the quote is crappy and misleading.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. What about a crowner for the caption?
For the record, the long version of the quote is based on that meme where people describe mundane things in over-the-top MANLY cursing gushing. e.g. "you see this shit, it's fucking BACON, it's the most delicious fucking thing on the goddamn planet".
(sure wish i had a cite for that)
e: Found it. p sure the image caption is lifted directly from the DF version of the meme

she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeThat makes me want to get rid of that quotation even more...
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I'd say keep it the way it is. Pointless meme or not, misleading or not, it's still funny. That's what really counts.
That is not true. "Meme" and "misleading" are among the worst things an image/caption can be.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That's better than "You want a dwarf? Here's your dwarf.", but not as good (in my opinion) as the long version, with or without swearing. Caption crowner?

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. How about stealing a Linux slogan? "Here is your dwarf. Make your own parachute. Welcome to Dwarf Fortress"
The caption on the image in this page came up in Ask The Tropers as the subject of an Edit War between these two forms:
So, which one stays, which one goes?
