You could use the same argument to forbid amicus curiae briefs.

The child is father to the man —OedipusIt's already been said in 174 that the work list was pre-populated by every trope and work page with a mature content flag. I'd image the vast majority of those are an instant-keep.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.Got no problem with flagging. At least it means the trope or work in question is being placed up for review. What I DO have a problem with is the possibility of someone going on another cutlisting spree, which happened late last night and which resulted in a number of pages getting cut without review by the council, including Collar6 and Cthulhutech.

And a mature content flag is one that a troper put there using brand-this new flagging system, right?
If not, then I'm not understanding at all, Lebrel.
And I still would like to know where, if anywhere, we are allowed to post such "short rebuttals."
, So "flagged" refers to two separate flagging systems here? It's not a troll going on a crazy content-violation-flagging spree, it's just a safety precaution. OK, thanks for clearing up my confusion.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. Some items were flagged during the The Google Incident. So, there's lots of innocuous things.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerWe are not going to allow anyone to go on a "cutlisting spree". Works submitted for review will not be cut without consideration.
Most of what has been flagged was flagged in response to the original Google Incident, and much of it has probably been flagged since late 2010.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffNo. There's a mature content flag on pages that are not allowed to have Google Ads, dating from the First Google Incident. The flag for content violation is a new, separate thing that's not up yet.

Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. You might want to check the recent cuts by Glider Guy. And oolong has recently placed Anime.Boku No Sexual Harassment on the cutlist.
This crap really needs to stop, as it undermines the efforts of the council to deal fairly with pages like this.

I was about to come here to mention that there are a TON of very innocuous items on the flag list already, the most glaring when I perused being The Lonely Island. Thanks for clearing the flag system up.
Is there a way to clear the flag list, though, so that more people don't look at it and immediately panic?
OK, fine. Cut declined.
Boku No Sexual Harassment has been flagged. 5P, I am pretty sure this is a clear violation of our content policy.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffI PM'd oolong. Perhaps Fast Eddie could add a notice about that to the Cut List? I know the cutlist is used for more than just the pedo/porn purge, but the cut requests about the new policy just keep on coming.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!-reads work page-
Yep. Looks like it, mon.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I saw a little of it, but it was only the corn cob scene without context, so I don't know about the plot. That corn cob scene is very squicky to me, because I don't like non con that much.
Boku No Sexual Harassment was actually played at an anime con I went to as part of the dub your own anime bit. It's porn with sort of a feeble plot as an excuse for more sex.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSo, it's safe to scrap, right?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Would someone decline the cut request for Romeo And Juliet again?
Medinoc gets a ban, because I warned him not to do this BS.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerPerhaps, when a thread is opened in the Content Violations subforum, a post could be made in this thread, even if it's not used for anything else? Because there's no way to watchlist a subforum.
The child is father to the man —OedipusYeah. As far as I can tell, this thread, the other thread and Fast Eddie's announcement thread are the only major threads that can really be opened and posted in by regular tropers like myself. And I've watchlisted both this thread and the Page Restoration thread because I like to keep myself abreast of the current goings-on.

@ Komodin: I figure we'll only need to vote to cut that and that's it. People flag it, it appears on the queue, the panel members vote, and, if need be, discuss it. If someone thinks a decision is wrong, they can appeal it. Sounds splendid.
Come to think of it, how would they formally appeal for it again?
(Sorry if a bit off-topic, but this thread is about to be closed and it might be relevant for some.)
p.s. Why is there Artistic License - Astronomy on the queue...
According to Fast Eddie, The flagging system will replace this thread.

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.@Fast Eddie: Will there be some way to watchlist the Content Violation Reports page? I can always bookmark it, but I'd prefer to watch it in-wiki.
Before it gets locked, can we please have an FAQ with link to the queue, in here? I know the link is in this thread (somewhere) but a handy FAQ could really help make things easier to find.
A way to watchlist for new threads (for discussion of borderline pages) would be great also.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. What ccoa said at 134, is that still the case?
Again, of course the 5Peers are the ones making the decision, but I will feel better if I can make my opinion known, even if a maximum of once per page and even if there's no indication anyone is taking it into account.

The child is father to the man —OedipusGuys, there are only three threads in this sub-forum, and one of them is called "Page Restoration Petitions". There is already a place to make a case for pages you don't feel should be removed.
And since the policy is not the topic of this thread, perhaps we should stop discussing it.
Where are we allowed to post such short rebuttals? Where do we report flags that contain misrepresentation, and how do we do so if we can't see the justification given by the flagger?
Seriously, I'm seeing BFS, Seashell Bra, Scenery Porn, Costume Porn, AwesomeButImpractical.Magic The Gathering ... none of those even involve sex of any kind!
It also looks like somebody went through the wiki and flagged everything that has a swear word in it, and everything even tangentially related to sex or breasts. We should have a way to report abuse/spam of the flagging system.
I was planning to stay silent, lurk, or just avoid the forum for a while but I can't ignore when people are already abusing the flag system this way.
