Question, is the work named after the trope, or the trope after the work?
AFAIK, that makes a big difference.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe trope was named after the work, which was apparently named after an expression nobody uses because "The enemy of my enemy" is much clearer.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"Eh, the trope name is pretty firmly entrenched, and hardly anybody really cares about the film (it's fairly obscure and not very popular). And the further along the Wick Namespace Migration project gets, the less of a problem this sort of thing becomes. With so many inbounds and like 2500 wicks to move, I'm really not convinced it's worth the trouble to rename this.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Seconded on all points. Continuing the namespace migration is all that's needed here
Crowner hooked.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I will add that the current name has about three items under I Thought It Meant:
- A mine placed by an enemy
- A mine that is an enemy
- A mine occupied by enemies
And that's in addition to the one-letter-off Enemy Mime.
More clear option is clear and I don't see much of a sacrifice lost in using Enemy of My Enemy
Of course, if this ever passes, then Enemy Mine should be turned into a disambiguation page because of those IThoughtItMeants
Calling crowner. Lack of consensus to rename.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerEnemy of My Enemy isn't the same. Enemy Mine can include being forced to work together against natural obstacles, not just common enemies. Also, it's a pre-existing ter.
Page should say something about:
- Enemies must work together for both of them to survive, or they both die, even if they don't fight at all
- Common enemy is too strong for only one of them to deal with
- Options, other than Enemy Mine, are few, if any, and worse than to team up.

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
The trope shares the same name as a movie, which has a page (that page happens to have way too much gushing, but this thread isn't about that). Sure it's an Overdosed Trope, but I'm pretty sure having a trope with the same name as a work is instant rename criteria. And we already have a redirect that is much clearer: Enemy of My Enemy or The Enemy of My Enemy. So we should rename it to one of those.
