It's Pella, looking tired and disheveled and lost. You and Myk run over to her, and manage to explain what's been going on.
Pella looks very much unconvinced, like she thinks that this is just another one of your CRAZY DELUSIONS. She does ultimately buy it, however, and then the three of you eat some FOOD you brought along as you find out how she got here. She explains that after you disappeared down the HOLE, she was discovered by a SCOUT PATROL, and fled. She was almost caught, before she then fell down a DIFFERENT HOLE about a mile further NORTH.
And then she got lost, partially due to the STRANGE CREATURES she encountered. She explains that there's a STRANGE UNDERGROUND FOREST down that-a way as she points down one TUNNEL. You get the IMPRESSION that the FOREST is NORTHWARDS, but at the SUGGESTION of heading for the UNDERGROUND FOREST Myk looks really concerned and such.

Well, you were heading NORTH earlier, which will take you across the BRIDGE. There are several TUNNELS going off from here, though the LAYOUT of them is not as cluttered or condensed as with the ATASHDEY CAVERNS. You could head UPSTREAM (which is roughly NORTH-EAST) or you could head DOWNSTREAM (which is roughly SOUTH-WEST, big surprise).
Down one particularly CRAMPED TUNNEL just to the left of the NORTHERN TUNNEL appears to have a long, thin pillar of yellow light coming from above, so that probably leads to the surface.
Pella mentions how she came from the CRAMPED TUNNEL, and that she found these WEIRD but NUTRITIOUS GREEN PLANTS floating around in a SMALL CHAMBER further through it.

Well, we just came from a probably nutritious buffet and thus have no need for plants, so...

You pick up a nearby ROCK and drop it on your FOOT, giving a LOUD YELL and attracting some ODD LOOKS from your TRAVELLING COMPANIONS.

The three of you (plus STEVE, obviously, who's still in your POUCH) head down the TUNNEL containing the UNDERGROUND STREAM, heading towards the SOURCE OF THE WATER.
Here, things are oddly tranquil: the SOFT GLOW of those BLUE CYLINDERS you brought with you give the TUNNELS an ETHEREAL BEAUTY, and the GENTLE FLOW of the STREAM calms your constantly paranoid NERVES. The three of you stop to rest, drinking from the STREAM before then continuing.
You keep going for SEVERAL HOURS, before Myk pauses, clicking in PANIC. She gestures to the STREAM, which you notice has begun taking on a faint ORANGE GLOW... what's the big deal, I mean, come on, it's not like-
Wait, did something just move over there?

GOOD IDEA, nothing could go wrong! You excitedly leap in, and... nothing goes wrong! Huh? The WATER is slightly TINGLY, but that's the extent of the ODDITY. You give a BIG GRIN to the others.
Pella and Myk simultaneously FACE-PAW/FACE-CLAW.

You do so, and she clicks repeatedly and rapidly, seemingly unsure of something. She gestures frantically, and you wonder if the ORANGE GLOW is dangerous to the OOLABEC. Come to think of it, the feeling from this ORANGE WATER is the same TINGLY SENSATION you get when holding the GLOWY BITS OF CRYSTAL back home, and there weren't any ORANGE GLOWY BITS OF CRYSTAL at the OOLABEC CAVERN...
Important to bear that in MIND, perhaps!

You quickly yank one of the CYLINDERS from Myk, and plunge it into the WATER. There's a short FIZZLE, before the BLUE CYLINDER has completely dissolved away.

Good idea! You promptly reach down, scoop up some ORANGE WATER and slurp it up! It tastes tangy, tingy, tasty...
Faintly ROCK-LIKE as well, myes. It doesn't seem that much different to REGULAR WATER, though, but the thought of finding the SOURCE of this STRANGE WATER intrigues you.

You do so, and bypass your lack of SWIMMING ABILITY with walking along the LITTLE SHORE on either side. You climb out of the WATER and the three of you (plus STEVE) head along the PASSAGE, but it eventually gets really tight: so cramped, in fact, that you cannot move, tsk.
You notice that the WATER has gotten more ORANGE, and you can see GLOWING ORANGE CRACKS in the WALLS around the TUNNEL. Myk seems to be extremely uneasy, and she's actually stayed back about FIVE FEET or so.
Either you find a way to blow up the ORANGE GLOWY ROCK VEINS and keep going, or you head back and take a different ROUTE.

You put on your best SCIENCY EXPRESSION as you ponder the REASON. You stare intently at her BODY, and notice the CHITINOUS ARMOUR that covers her appears to have faint SLIVERS OF BLUE. Looking into your POUCH you realize that STEVE also seems extremely uncomfortable and agitated. And that GLOWING BLUE CYLINDER melted into the WATER...
Aha! You figure that the BLUE CRYSTAL, which perhaps makes up a noticeable portion of OOLABEDC PHYSIOLOGY, reacts negatively with the ORANGE CRYSTAL and breaks down at the MOLECULAR LEVEL on DIRECT CONTACT.
... Why? Because SCIENCE, duh.
