Same here, Best Of. Well, I wasn't a newbie, but I don't see why it would be a big deal.
What else should The Second Google Incident cover?

Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffShouldn't we include discussion about alternate methods of funding, notably the badges, on the page?

I now go by Graf von Tirol.I'm off to bed now, and I might not be online at all tomorrow.
Before I go, I'd like to suggest that that page be locked and that the mods take it over. If someone has the time to write it up so that it covers what it needs to cover, it could be updated or rewritten and then it could be official.
Or maybe it can be official without needing a lock, but a mod should definitely watchlist it.
Of course, that's easy for me to say 'cause I won't be that mod.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I vaguely remember the rules thing not being there (Been here since '10, I think), but I don't really mind it. Then again, I usually post from my iPod, and it zooms in to where I can't see it while typing anyway. I will say, though, that I like the forum rules being linked somewhere you can easily find them.
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Perhaps something hopeful so that it doesn't seem all that bleak? Sorry for that, but the lack of any hope for that page makes this situation all the more unnerving.
If we're looking for specifics, we should probably add that there's a group being formed that will review any work that seems to be Pedo-Friendly and see if its worthy of being cut.

I agree with that.
And honestly, if we're to have a "committee" of that sort, it shouldn't be limited to that one issue. There are other standards the wiki has. Focusing on that one issue only draws more attention to it.
Now using Trivialis handle.I want to say that this is enough of a derail of the topic, but all of the threads about the "The Second Google Incident" or "The SFW issue" or "Why have all these tropes been cut?" or "LET US KNOW IN ADVANCE!" have been locked (for good reasons) and there is no place else to take it...

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie! They've been locked because people don't really seem to be coming up with anything new or helpful to say. I read the No Perversity thread, and once it was re-opened, it almost immediately degenerated back into bickering over whether XYZ work counts as "pedo-friendly" and yada yada yada. That adds nothing to the discussion and causes tempers to start flaring, which is why the mods locked the thread. I suspect they're not allowing any new threads because, at this point, it appears that any thread on the topic is likely to take the same turn.
On the actual topic of this thread, has there been any official word (or official discussion we can be told about) about what will be getting implemented when and how?

I said "...have been locked (for good reasons)..." and thought my understanding of why there was no place to take the discussion was implied... Oh well.
To answer your question, there is no word about when the new shop/features will be added (they have probably been delayed by the other topic), but we have a fairly good idea of "what" is going to be in the shop. Guess it is time to modify/re-post that list:
Note that none of these details are finalized.
- Avatars
- Number of free/number you can buy
- Most think one page (40 avatars) is plenty for free
- Purchasing 1 additional page at a time
- Purchasing unlimited avatars
- Possibly $5 per page
- Number of free/number you can buy
- Badges
- Premium Membership
- One time payment
- Pinning avatars
- Additional text options
- Access to the full hexadesimal collor options
- Additional text formats/fonts
- The curent "remove ads" feature
- Other and possibly Premium
- More/Custom emoticons
- Colored usernames
Also, no curent functionality/options will be removed if at all possible (with the exemption of unlimited avatars).
Fast Eddie's thoughts/what he is looking at (as far as the people without acess to the super-secret-mod-foumtm know)

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I like the idea of pinning an avi. Would that be to one post, a thread, a sub-forum, the left side, etc?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I think the idea is that you can, if you want, pick an avatar for a thread and you'll have it in that thread without changing your normal avatar in other threads, and/or you can attach an avatar to a post so that even if you change your avatar, the one pinned to the post stays the same.
Both of these would be valuable to RP players and hopefully they'll be flocking to the Premium account.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. This thread is not for general discussion of the current situation. That discussion goes to the thread in Special Efforts once it is opened. Patience.
Not all pages that were nuked will be lost for good. Some of them will be accepted back by the committee once we have a committee.
Wait until there's something to discuss. Then you're welcome to participate.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Hm, I suppose the mods could hand out badges for humor or something if they wanted to reward people for good behavior as well or something.
Fight smart, not fair.Well, the badge(r) for that has already been created. Though the current idea is that one person can buy that particular badge and give it to another in appreciation for a good joke.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Would expanding the signature box by X more characters for a one-off payment be feasible?
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajI can imagine paying for that. The character limit just feels stifling sometimes, especially when you have links to put in.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Maybe make it so that it only counts how much symbols will be visible in the end result, disregarding links and formatting?
I sort of posted this in the wrong place, but maybe create a smiley system like on SA? You can pay for extra smileys, or to add ones you designed yourself? I confess I don't know exactly how it works.
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. That is one of the ideas on the list (scroll up a bit). No word from Mods or Fast Eddie on that yet.
And I would not hold your breath waiting for a response from them. They have a much "bigger fish to fry" right now...
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Yeah, all this stuff is taking a back seat for a moment now. We'll still respond here but it'll take a while.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.I think we really should get back to this at some point. We still should find ways to rely less on Google (maybe even phase it out the need for it, which would be nice IMO).
I now go by Graf von Tirol. And we most certainly will. Eddie even implied that he had a fair amount of the codeing for the "shop" put together.
got it.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Code design, rather. It will still take a week or more to put it all in active code.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
I've never understood what's supposed to be so dislikeable about that little banner, though. To me, it looks entirely inoffencive.
Well, I was a very new newbie when that banner arrived (IIRC,) so maybe I just never grew a sense of nostalgia over the way the "Add Post" page used to look like.
