True.
Playing Tiberium Sun, I forgot how much I missed the randomly generated maps thing. I really wish we could have more of that.
Oh really when?I really hate that my laptop simply can't play RA 3. I've no idea why, and I've tried everything to fix it to no avail - the screen is simply black when it starts up. The game is playing in the background but I can't see it. With enough fucking around I can get the demo to play, but not the main game.
All the others in the Ultimate Edition and First Decade work just fine (though I need to fool the laptop into thinking I'm using a second monitor for RA 2, which doesn't work for RA 3) except that and Tiberium Twilight, which is really annoying.
So why exactly did EA try to retool C&C Arena into C&C4? Did they know they're were just gonna abandon the series and wanted to get something out are were they legitimately trying to expand the audience?
See, honestly to someone who isn't a Cn C fan (my brother's a massive fan of it so I know a bunch second hand) it seemed kinda interesting I guess but fwiw everyone seemed to kinda agree that it failed at doing is own style.
Also while we're talking about canon, is it correct to say that Red Alert 1 happened in the Tiberum timeline in Broad Strokes, right? It's not an exact follow up to either ending but you can't ignore that it happened because Kane's there.

IIRC the idea is that the Soviet ending leads to the Tiberium Universe (Since Kane usurps control over the Soviets, as seen in that ending when he kills everyone left alive) and the Allied one leads to RA 2.
Except it never turned out that way. Westwood, EALA, nobody could reconcile the canon between the first two games.
I wish Generals 2 was still happening.
I also wish I could get Rise of the Reds to work.
Oh really when? What system are you running? Furthermore, do you mean you can't get it to run at all, or does it just crash at random during matches?
I've got Windows 7 and I'm fairly sure I downloaded it all properly but my thing is I bought that massive super collection on Origin for $20. Came with literally everything.
I'm positive that's what's screwing me up. I try to run the mod but it just turns into normal Zero Hour.

Oh really when?Ok... that's a new one. Haven't heard anyone complain about that so far on the mod's forums.
Did a quick check for you and found this thread: Link Here
Hope it helps.
Say, how old would you peg Tanya in Red Alert 1? I couldn't find anything on this "Lynne Litteer" that is supposed to be her live-action actress; it's like she's a complete nobody, unlike Kari Wuhrer who portrayed the Legacy Character in the sequel.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. At least 22, less than 35.
Grumble grumble. I keep trying to get Rise of The Reds to work but it still refuses to happen.
I am sads.

Oh really when?Is finding and using a Torrented download of the original copy an option for you? Because if the Ultimate Collection is still acting up, that might be your only hope at this point.
I am considering it but torrenting makes me sad.
Oh really when?I know Tiberium Twilight is hated for its gameplay (for good reason), but how has the story been received?

#IceBearForPresidentI don't know much about it besides the fact that it completely ignored the "real Scrin invasion imminent" plot hook from Tiberium Wars, and evidently its efforts to explain Kane's backstory raised more questions than answers.
The C&C wiki reports that both critics and fans considered Twilight's story "weak" and another sign that the whole game was slapped together in a few months. So the answer to your question is probably "badly." Or maybe Fanon Discontinuity.

Current earworm: "Time of Death"Twilight's plot was not well received. At all. In addition to ignoring pretty much all the interesting plot points from Wars, there was the fact that it was nonsensical and rushed, involved a wife players didn't care about at all getting kidnapped (and killed? I honestly don't remember), random twists, the fact that the Nod and GDI campaigns were mostly identical (making it even more obvious everything was rushed), and a resolution to Kane's plot that might have made sense if we got more detail (but we didn't, so it was just annoying).
Joseph D. Kucan did the best he could with the material he was given, and he was entertaining as always, but it just wasn't enough.
Twilight was particularly disappointing because, after the success of Wars and Kane's Wrath it looked like EA hadn't screwed up a newly acquired series for once.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. That plus Red Alert 3.
You'd think the substantial divisions among the fanbase over those very games (plus Generals, regarding it being unworthy of being called a C&C title rather than being an unrelated title of its own) would count as a worrisome sign that EA's status regarding whether or not they screwed up the franchise is quite precarious and fragile at best.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Disasterously. Twilight, like Tiberian Sun, gave the player a name and a face and a screen presence, but it didn't give the player any additional agency to go with that (as Tiberian Sun did in giving you additional missions to pave the way), and it tried to have a relatively complex plot but made a hash of it, telegraphing plot points harder than Western Union would, making the player character look like an idiot at some points for not seeing things coming and giving the player no choice but to do some things (like team up with Nod!) that don't sound like good ideas at others. At the very end it literally has the player character get killed on the cusp of total victory so we can have lolKanehijack. It also addressed the Kane myth arc badly; at this point explaining Kane or his goals is almost certainly a terrible idea, but it tried to do so.
Nous restons ici.In regards to Kane, most of what the game gave as an explanation had long been speculated by the fanbase.
Basically he's both an alien and the original Cain of biblical lore. He never explains how he got stuck on Earth, why he looks human, or what his ultimate plan is once he finds a way to escape our planet. But he makes it known that he's been trying to find a way to get some sort of payback against the Scrin for a very long time, and both Nod and humanity (and by extension, GDI) were his means to do so. He doesn't go into any further details beyond that though, nor does he explain what will happen to all the Nod faithful who followed him through the Scrin portal... oh, and the process of the portal activating instantly cleans the earth of all Tiberium instantly, implausible as that sounds.
While the player character is another voiceless protagonist who simply follows a script and is never physically seen as in previous games, they tried to avoid using the video conferences style used in the previous C&Cs, and you've now got both a name and more detailed backstory, including a (REALLY annoying) wife. Oh, and what decides whether or not your wife dies is whether you join Nod to save her or stick with GDI and let her die.
Finally, after many reinstalls and moving files I got Rise of the Reds to work.
Oh Hind swarms, how I have missed you.
Oh really when? So, what was the secret little bug that kept you stuck for so long?
Oh, and since you're gonna be playing ROTR again, mind if I join you for an online comp-stomp or pvp in the future?
^ RA 2 Apocalypse tanks simply regenerate whatever damage they take. It doesn't take that long either, especially if you capture a Repair Bay.
