Too literal. Def need a new image.

I thought, "I know! A picture of Eeyore." Unfortunately the best one I found is being used by The Eeyore. That is an awfully fine distinction.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I think Grumpy looks cynical enough. The raincloud adds to it. Overall the design looks very happy, though.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!That's more of a Boomerang Bigot.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested, too.

No, I have no idea what's going on there
That looks like something other than this trope.
The world around her certainly is bright and whatnot, but I'm not really seeing a clear lack of idealism in her focusing on a book while not wanting the others to bother her, or something. I could be overanalyzing or misinterpreting the trope, though.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!I see her either focusing on the book, or being affected by what's written there. I don't see this trope.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I would like the pony pic more if the yellow one didn't have a sad face; this trope is about a single character being pessimistic in an optimistic setting, but the purple one clearly isn't the only one who is not happy.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Pony pic is worse than what's currently up. There's nothing there to suggest the trope.
Man, it's harder to find a picture of this then you'd think.
How about this? ("I hate ___" is his catchphrase)

Current picture is fine. The pony picture just shows her focused on reading.
Reaction Image RepositoryMy issue here with the current and all suggested so far: the image for this needs to show two things: a cynical character in an idealistic 'verse, and that the verse itself is idealistic.
None of the images so far really establish the latter. Before you say "well obviously the pic is saccharine, it is a bloody teddy bear/pony/Smurf", I direct you to Subverted Kids' Show, Crapsaccharine World, and Art-Style Dissonance.
At least current and Smurfs establish grumpiness, though. I vote strongly against the pony, since it just looks like concentration (even if the actual context fits the trope).

Not nearly a good enough singer for the Choir Invisible, and the Basement Room With A Synth Invisible is much less prestigious.I see an idealistic verse in Care Bears. I see the image and don't think of any of the tropes in the post above. From what I can tell from advertisements and pop culture, Care Bears is pretty sweet stuff.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Yeah that is like saying a guy in black spiked armor adorned with skulls doesn't look like a villain because sometimes Dark Is Not Evil.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I was about to say something, but #21 and #22 said it better.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.@abk The "I hate bears" image would be better if it was flipped so he was walking away from the page...
I like the Grumpy Smurf.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Other than the caption informs us that the bear in question is the Trope Namer, how does it illustrate the trope?
It does not even look particularly grumpy, let alone "the cynic in an idealistic world".
