Pale Rider sounds like Lone Ranger to me.

Personally, this series needs someone like the Doomguy to help out Kirito imo. tongue

The Pale Rider is another name for Death, as in the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. All three of the newbies pointed out by Sinon have allusions to Death in their name, which is supposed to keep it ambiguous which one is Death Gun.

Honestly, if it actually was Pale Rider that would have been cool.

Up to episode 9 in the first season. This must be that famous romance I heard about.

You know, I feel this would be a great weapon for Kirito to have in this game, considering his apparent Gary Stu status. Or if not, then the villain should use it.

Catching up with the episodes because busy, now up to episode 6. The scene where Kirito grope Sinon was very uncomfortable to watch.

Are they still trying to use the "few girls play MMO!" setting that is at no point true anywhere in the history of MMO? In SAO it is Values Dissonance. In GGO it is straight up at best ignorant, at worst misogynist.

Have you looked at Sinon's shorts lately? I think any semblance of respect for women went out the window a while ago.

What?

It's true.

I'm not saying that girls have never been a significant thing in MM Os, but it's well known that most players are dudes, and that perception gets even further skewed toward "there are no girls on the internet bro" with all the guys that use female characters when they can.

That might have changed a little with the rise of some more "social games" (as opposed to "hardcore gameplay" types) but it's prevalent enough to be a memetic assumption. (ALO on the other hand is considered to have a relatively large population of girls.)

Also I swear Sinon's shorts are getting smaller by the episode. It's like the team went "guys, I think we overdid it with Suguha's tits last season..." and some other guy went "CLEARLY, THERE IS ONLY ONE SOLUTION"

Sex does sell and the fan service in this series hasn't reached gratuity yet so don't sweat it.

So we got T last season and we're getting A this season so maybe we'll get D next season?

Administrator is naked 24/7 though, so there'd still be more T and A, and there's that "no homo" attitude the author seems to be trying to get across...I'm not buying it

If the author were truly no homo, there'd be moar Asuna.

I find the lack of Asuna disturbing.

It's a stereotype, but it is not true. Since before SAO was written in 2002. All three games should have about 50:50 gender ratio like what we are working toward right now. Our society, while still not an equal one, progressed that much so that females are now more open to what they want to do instead of succumb to social pressure. It is still a recent change but not short enough to get the anime a pass (forgot when was GGO published). Go to a convention and the gender ratio is about 50:50. If there is one thing the anime should change from the novels it is this.

Well, that's one other thing I have to ignore to enjoy the show.

I tried CTRL+Fing for "mmorpg" or "game" and didn't find anything, how specific is that supposed to be?

If by convention you mean like those anime or comic book conventions, I don't have anything to say about those since I don't go to them.

The proportion of men and women online mirrored that of the general population.

Again, this is US specific, but GGO is US based. There are tons of female gamers around, and you would know them in this society without the government personally knocking the door and asking.

But let's turn our brains off and enjoy, because this is probably one of the lesser issues.

Personally, I find this arc much more interesting, even without Asuna. Mainly because I'm much more of a shooter fan than I am an RPG fan. That, and I find gun combat so much more satisfying and yes, graceful than melee combat.

Speaking of guns, here's another one that could definitely help Kirito and Asuna out:

And yes, the FPS geek in me is nerding out right now. waii

I'd say something against gun combat being more graceful

but the latest episode just showed us Pale Rider showing off that AGI-builds are like, totally viable, man

so. (I also tend to favor older gun designs more, so that's another plus. Though it isn't that old.)

I just might have to fight you over gun combat being more graceful than melee combat (especially swordplay). Of course, going solely by this anime, it may very well be since we don't really see anyone other than Kirito do any heavy fighting and he's a berserker.

To those who say gun combat is less graceful than sword combat, Gun Fu and Gun Kata say hi. Yeah, they aren't really practical, but then again, neither are the majority of sword moves seen in films.

For a good example, just look at The Matrix:

If this show had more use of Gun Fu like the above, I feel that the fights would be even better than the sword fights of the first season.
