Youtube Channel for Troper Gamers

Alright, an effort is underway to make a youtube channel that we tropers may use to post machinima series, gameplay footage, how-to's, whatever, etc. etc. As of now, the channel is not set up yet, but I'm working on putting together the gmail account which we'll share.

It should not take very long to set up stuff, maybe a day or two at most. However, I have some questions before I start finalizing stuff.

• 1) If anyone knows how to set up a "multi-user Youtube channel", where all of us could log on whenever we wanted without causing problems are issues or whatever, please tell.

Actually, that was my only real question.

Also, coordination. I think I'll start out by only giving the password to a very few trusted individuals. If someone wants to post a video, they have to send it to these individuals to post. I'll leave it up to them to decide who is trustworthy enough to actually receive the password.

Please post any thoughts or questions or anything.

Last but not least, the working name for the channel is Troper Tales.

Well I'm a relative newcomer, compared to some, so I wouldn't know. Anyway, it's catchy and it fits. But like I said, "working" title. I'm open to suggestions.

By the way, it's a good chance that many of the first series will be based in the Troper's Minecraft server or made by people who frequent it. As such, since I know them best, passwords will go to alot of them foremost.

Nah, just kidding. We could just name it the Troper Legion Channel (the account username is We Are Troper Legion).

Alright, I've been looking everywhere, and from what I see, it is unlikely that more than one person can be logged on to an account at the same time and it be fine. But I've also learned it might be possible.

So can you help me out, Joe? As soon as I set up the channel, I'll give you the account password, and you can sign on. We'll see what it does, 'kay?

Edit: We'll have to do it tomorrow, actually. Everybody else, ideas, questions, and requests are welcome.

Also, The_Troper_Legion (minus the _'s) is our official youtube account name. The channel is "up", in a sense, but I want to be sure that we have things down and organized before we do anything with it.

I'd suggest not having one channel for many things. Specialization would be a better plan here so that less people share each password.

We could just have a "head council" of sorts that uploads the videos for everyone else.

And seperate channels would be good, but I think we should start small and grow from there. No need to have a dozen channels if we're just starting out.

What if one person was charged with uploading the videos at a certain day every week? Everyone'd send him or her A) the video to upload, and B) a word file with how it should be uploaded, including the title, description, tags, and the playlist in which it should be uploaded. I'd volunteer to do it.

Alternatively, we would choose several individuals to do so, with each individual assigned to upload the videos he/she is sent on a certain day. Possibly better. More videos sent out, less pressure for singular uploader.

How would the videos be organized according to uploader, though? Perhaps by maker, or series, or game?

This is an interesting idea. I know that You Tube channels can be owned by companies or organizations; I'm sure we could squeeze in under that definition. I'm not sure if we'd need to pay for it, though.

By game, I'd assume. Split into series if they make a sreies.

From what I read, a channel designed for an organization is just a well set up normal channel tailored toward the subject of the organization. When it gets popular enough, You Tube might notice it and offer it more features. The ability to set up series (with episodes and series and all that) comes with it, among other things. I'd say our best bet is to try out the normal channel, see how it goes, and if we get noticed, sweet, more stuff.

Mind you, this is (researched) speculation on my part.

What should we do for the channel design? We'll need a background, account photo, etc. What would Tvtrope's "colors" be? Simple black and white?

For the channel logo, the TV Tropes logo with something added about video games?

Okay, so we make a shared account — or just give upload rights to a specific person who will handle the work. Then it's up to You Tube to give us featured status if we get popular enough. Makes sense.

I have a few Minecraft vids I might want to post.

If we monetize the videos, how should the revenue (if any) be shared? I'd say donate it to the wiki, personally.

Edit: I like the idea of the TV Tropes lampshade hung on a game console. Probably need Eddie's approval for it.

Edit 2: I'd say use TVTropesGaming as the handle, if that's available.

Seconding donate any revenue to the Wiki.

Yeah, donating anything we get to the Wiki sounds like a good idea. Of course, that's probably going to be a long way off anyway, but it's good to plan ahead.

Also, within the channel, we can use playlists to organize work by specific posters.

The password should be 'foamy'. It's traditional.

But it can't be both swordfish and foamy at the same time...

Let's make it something that isn't ridiculously easy to hack, please.
