Yeah. To give Santorum his due, he's fought his way into this race against a Republican establishment that didn't want him, mostly on the strength of his convictions (and Romney's weakness).

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.

Being supported by a mob of crazy Christian Fundamentalists who think Mormonism isn't Christian (or at least not Christian enough) doesn't hurt, either.

Mormons? Nope. They don't believe that Jesus is "of one substance with the Father", meaning most trinitarian Christian sects don't believe they're Christians.

Somehow you know that the time is right.

I agree with you, except for one letter!

(Actually, do Mormons hold that they're of completely unlike substance? I guess that would be a major difference.)

It might be more accurate for me to say that Mormons don't view Jesus as the eternal, uncreated equal of God the Father, as trinitarians do. Though in the interest of not derailing this thread I'll leave it at that...

So yeah, while certainly not a centrist, he's nowhere as nutty as pop culture makes him out to be, though he has a problem with saying perfectly reasonable things in as tactless a manner as possible. Then again, you're talking about someone whose campaign infrastructure is held together by year-old scotch tape, and the patronage of St. Jude.

As a fun fact....

As a kid in catholic school I never understood why we seemed to be more pro-jesus than pro-god which ultimetly lead me to be agnostic and then atheist...

but that is a derail.

I will always cherish the chance of a new beggining.
