All-Purpose Namespace Icon Thread: Sandbox.Namespace Icons

Can't we use something a little more generic for a Web Original icon like a computer?

Far too generic IMO...much prefer something that at least hints at something from the genre.

^^ A computer is not emblematic of the Internet. Not sure what is.

Well, I made the happy drama mask (based on sad mask #2), but frankly, any attempt I made to make a half-happy, half-sad mask just came out looking... weird. Like, ":S" weird. Didn't look like a half-and-half mask so much as a mask making the goofiest face.

Still, here's the happy one if you want to give it a go yourself.

I personally prefer the happy mask alone. The double mask is kinda meh.

I don't like the mouth splitting like that. It just doesn't look good and it's too visually jarring. Not at that resolution. It makes the eyes look like they're all one giant V for one thing.

The only other thing I can think of right now for Theatre would be Shakespeare's head, but I dunno how good that would look at icon size.

I think either of the black and grey masks look fine.

Alright, the old discussion thread for the Anime and Manga icons is at clocking point, so to get that out of the queue, I'm going to mass post some of the suggestions here, and do the eyes tonight when I've had a chance to winnow down some of the options.

Of these, I like the first Astro Boy (would prefer it flipped), the eye, the Naruto head, all the faces, and the second and third Gundam heads best.

I like the eye best, though it might be improved with a lower eyelid. The other ones are less clear to me, since I don't know where they're from.

The first two are Astro Boy...I believe we were leaning toward using one of those for Manga/ The eye is from Wikipedia. Most of the other images are game sprites; the last four are from various Gundam games. The flag, I believe rodney made on his own.

I like the eye of those. The rest look a bit too much like video game sprites.

It bugs me that the blue in the eye is so hard to see...for the longest time I thought it was in B/W. Could someone 'shop in a little bit more blue, and maybe some flesh tone around it? Would making it green improve the visibility any?

Actually, I'd personally rather see some transparency around the eye than a fleshy tone, but that's me...

It's mainly to help distinguish it as something for Anime/...we're dealing with two different namespaces and I wanna keep whatever we pick for Anime/ obviously distinct from Manga/, especially since there hasn't been any real discussion (at least in here) about using Astro Boy.

Also, before this gets any further, here are the other eyes that I suggested in the previous thread. In the first collage, I prefer #2 and the last two. In the second, #s 4, 6, 12, 14, 18, and 19.

Now that all the suggestions are moved to here, I'm gonna lock the old thread.

Bluer eye. The skin as those ones prove is going to look bad on a white rounded edge button.

I like the second Astro Boy icon best because it is pretty much the anime counterpart to the Western Animation namespace icon. That's just my opinion though.

I'm just worried the Astro Boy looks a bit too much like the Felix the cat one to make them differentiable at a glance. We want them different enough that they aren't mixed up.
