All-Purpose Namespace Icon Thread: Sandbox.Namespace Icons

Go To

This thread deals with all issues concerning the icons used for namespaces and their buttons, including proposals for icons for new namespaces and bugs with existing icons.

When submitting an icon, the icon images should be exactly 16x16 png with a transparent background. A gif can also be used, but png is usually better. Also, the naming convention is important. It should be the namespace in lowercase.

I am compiling a list of namespaces that need icons, and icons for those name spaces. This would be preferred to be done quickly because I've convinced Eddie to hook them up when I get them complied. I will be editing the OP as we go.

NOTE: Use the link to the sandbox in the thread title to see what still needs to be decided on.

Subpages that still need icons:

  • Animation/
  • FanWorks/
  • Manhua/
  • Sandbox/
  • Timeline/

Subpages that already have icons hooked up (please note, this list has been collapsed into a note, so that the floating header post isn't huge)

Links to installation-ready icons here and forward.

Re: Phanto edits for Theatre/

Here are a few I whipped up really quick - one flat-shaded, one shaded more like Phanto, and one that clearly illustrates that I have never seriously studied the anatomy of a human face.

I like that D6 for Tabletop Game (it's certainly clearer than the D20s I suggested)...is everyone alright with the color?

[up] Those are good...lean toward the second.

[up] With regards to Tabletop Games/, I kind of prefer the D6s you suggested, honestly (particularly #2).

I can change the colour on the d6 easily. I made the icon. Second theatre mask is the best.

Would a stick man work for Webcomic/? It would be clear and probably not found in other forms of media.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

[up] Better, give him a black hat, and we can argue it's an xkcd reference. (Might be too fan myopic, though.)

Speaking of Fan Myopia, for Web Original, maybe we could use some of the emoticons from the long-defunct Homestar Runner page, Strong Bad's Message Bored? The non-animated ones, of course. Or maybe the You Tube icon, I dunno.

For Bollywood, I was thinking of something like this, but I'm having a hard time icon-ifying it. Anyone wanna take a stab?

Bollywood might be better suited with something resembling the Taj Mahal...I dunno how well [up] or similar would turn out at 16x16.

I actually came up with a few images of the eyes that looked pretty good. It's really the veil that I was having trouble with.

Maybe something like this this?

Why don't you show us how it's going to look at size?

I'd make the orange a bit more... well, orange, since as-is it kind of blends into the white, but otherwise it's good.

Hrrrm. For Weboriginal... I like Shadowhog's idea to use the Homestar Runner emoticons. Tweaked the Strong Bad icon a bit

Shimaspawn will sent them as a batch PM to Eddie to implement, rather than one-after-the-other, if I understand correctly. So we have to find all namespace icons first.

[up] Since I can't look at those right now, I'll cast my vote for either of the Homestar icons for Web Original...lean toward Homestar.
