choosing an image.: Nice Hat.Anime And Manga

Apparently any thread that even hints at changing the picture on the main page of Nice Hat is deleted. Let's see if this is allowed instead. Each page needs an image, so may as well start with Anime & Manga.

Well I think that picture on the main page could stay anyway, as that series is among several media, so would technically be medium agnostic.

Seriously, stop talking about that picture before this thread gets locked.

Let's just do a crowner with the pictures in the image links page, and anything else people want to add.

What happened to the old thread? We could've kept the discussions there...I'd really prefer to not clog the forum up with a bunch of threads about the subpages.

EDIT: Wow, I'm really not impressed with the selection...the Black Jack pic and the Lupin character from the old thread are the best of what we've got to work with as far as I'm concerned.

Did you actually read the content of my post? I was clearly not asking about it, but stating why I agreed it should stay on the main page.

Yes, and it was pretty clear that the current pic wouldn't be moved, but we were starting discussions on the other subpages and now we're gonna have to start those over from scratch.

Most people would associate it with anime though, so it should be moved to the anime subsection.

Do not mention moving the image from the main page. That is not up for discussion. It has been vetoed by the powers that be that own this site.

I added an extra line to the present tags noting that.

Getting back to the discussion...anyone got anything else to suggest?

Well...I have a possible suggestion. Considering that YMMV on what constitutes "the best" representation of Nice Hat, considering there's numerous examples...why not an image with three Nice Hats for the price of one◊?

If people like it, I'll post a cleaned up version of that image without the credits to the translators.

I posted some of these in the last thread. It's a good example of the "iconic accessory that the character never takes off" part of the trope.

Of everything that's been posted so far, here's the ones I like best, with my favorites being asterisked: 1◊*, 2◊, 3◊*, 4*, 5, 6◊

I like #4, the Nanoha hat with the twin bunnies.

Yeah, Vita's hat is the best one. The others are more plain.

Why does it seem like people are treating this trope as "Person wears the craziest possible hat." If that's what this trope is, then the description needs to be completely changed.

It stands out more, so it works better as a pic. There's less discussion about if it's cool or average, and more about if it's cool or retarded. The latter means it's at least distinctive with its own style, which is an important part of the trope.

Also, I'd say less "craziest possible" and more unique. A person wearing a hat isn't a trope.
