Needless duplication, UsefulNotes page being treated like a trope: FBI

Right now we have three pages that are closely related.

FBI Agent is a trope about the potrayal of the FBI in general and FBI agents in particular in fiction.

FBI is supposed to be a Useful Notes page, however it is being treated like a trope, in that it has an examples section and is being listed on works pages as a trope. It is also misleading, because among other things it claims that Eliot Ness was an FBI agent.

American Law Enforcement is a Useful Notes page that includes a section on the FBI which is much better than the FBI page.

My proposal:

Create UsefulNotes.Federal Bureau Of Investigation. Move the information from FBI and the FBI section of the American Law Enforcement page to this new page. Correct any innacuracies or sentances that refer to how the FBI is treated in fiction vs. Real Life.

Move all the examples of the FBI in the media currently on the FBI page or one of its wicks to FBI Agent.

Make FBI a redirect to either UsefulNotes.Federal Bureau Of Investigation or FBI Agent, or make it an Ambiguity Index page linking both.

So, no one has an opinion on this? We don't necessarily need a heated debate and extended essays on the topic, but some response would be nice.

Even if it just a "sounds good to me" or "I don't have a problem with it".

If you are okay with doing this, please leave some sort of comment so we can declare a consensus and get it done. If you have a problem with this, please let it be known.

Is there any difference between the FBI and American Law Enforcement articles? If it's nothing significant, I'm fine with the merging idea.

As long as the examples on the present FBI are about the agents, they can move to FBI Agent. I don't really see a reason why FBI could not then be redirected to American Law Enforcement.

I think a Useful Notes page on just the FBI might not be a bad idea. Overall, I agree with the OP.

@Eddie: I'm not aware of any examples of the FBI playing a notable role in a work that doesn't involve one or more agents. I think it is safe to say that "someone mentions the FBI some time but no members of the FBI ever play a role" is not worth listing. So yeah, I don't think that your condition will create any major problems.

So as a first step, it looks like everyone can agree on me on moving the examples and wicks from FBI to FBI Agent. I'll do that shortly.

I've see there is a proposal to leave the Useful Notes information on the FBI on the American Law Enforcement page instead of having a seperate page for them. What does everyone think of that idea?

The wicks for FBI have all been moved except for mentions of the Real Life FBI on Useful Notes pages and Real Life example sections. Those will be changed to wicks for the Useful Notes page.

Seeing no further discussion, I'm going to go with Eddie's suggestion to make FBI a redirect to American Law Enforcement. I will begin implementing that shortly, however first, I'm going to do a namespace shift for American Law Enforcement.

EDIT PS: Change made.
