Agreed.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyThe same that applied for Unwinnable by Design also applies here.
"Unwinnable" does not mean "a game that cannot be won, ever". Yeah, it's probably not the best name we could have picked for that trope. "Unwinnable" means that the game can be won, but you can end up in a situation from where it cannot be won any more.
So XKCD's Tetris is not an example. Rather, it is an example of Impossible Joke Game and Controllable Helplessness.
This is precisely why the whole set of "Unwinnable" tropes have been on the Trope Repair Shop for several months now.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Clock is set.
I don't see why the supertrope has to have a legitimate example just because the more specific subtropes do. Lets use the Tetris comic. If you want, I can try and get a pic from the version of Tetris that applies a physics engine.
The Tetris image is a different trope. "Unwinnable" doesn't mean a "game that cannot be won", it means that a game that can be won has a situation from which it can't.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!"Unwinnable" is a gameplay state from which it is impossible to win the game. A game that cannot be won is, by definition, in such a state at all times. I think you're overthinking it. Besides, it's hilarious.
Tossing out another for the Portal fans:

Rhymes with "Protracted."Aren't Supertrope pages supposed to be imageless, anyway?
"Suffer a vicious person and you will fear vice. Suffer a virtuous one and you will soon loathe virtue itself." Tony DuvertYou are talking about trope pages that were split by medium. Not always, and it's a supertrope what we are talking about here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat Portal picture is genius! XD
Frickin' love the Portal pic.
The Portal pic is only funny if you know about Portal, though. Or can infer enough. (You do know about Tetris, though.)

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I think with the caption pointing to the specific comic, it should make enough sense to use.
The Portal pic is clever, but is it actually a game? :S
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyI love the Portal picture, but it doesn't work for anyone who doesn't know of Portal.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajAnd for someone who doesn't know portal.... I don't get it.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Technically speaking... (Same link as Good Luck in #32)

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. The clock's up; what are we doing with this?
Clock's expired with no activity, locking.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
\+1 for the tetris.
