It better end with everyone getting shot repeatedly, with Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek playing in the background.

But in all seriousness, that looks really interesting. The world looks amazing, too.

And to say I was nervous... it wouldn't be quite enough.

Y'know, I hate these kinds of trailers. I know absolutely nothing more about that game than I did prior except that it is apparently a thing.

Could someone actually tell what the hell this thing is? I refuse to justify this kind of advertisement to research myself.

[up] Agreed. Where's the information on the gameplay? What IS the gameplay?

[up] This mod is more conceptual than a regular mod. It's designed as more of a storytelling mod than others out there. And it has a lot of Scenery Porn.

You can find the older version of the mod online. I'm waiting for this one to come out, as I have played Korsakovia (which I recommend downloading first) before, oh boy.

Here's the older version of Dear Esther. And here's Korsakovia.

I actually liked that the trailer was different than usual. Like I said in The Witcher thread today I hate te trailers that consist only of epic sounding music with characters don't pseudo-badass things and don't show anything else. I prefer conceptual trailers like this or trailers based on the story. One can know the gameplay by looking at preview/review videos or whatever.

oh sure, but you like trailers consisting of beautiful music with landscapes doing nothing and dont show anything else but a bunch of words describing how awesome this thing is, but not what this thing is.. thats so much better =O

From what I can tell the trailer doesn't look too far off from the game itself. The site says it's a ghost story, and it involves you exploring the area in first person and hearing bits of letters to a woman named Esther.

It's a first person adventure game. Simple as that. Makes me think it's like that indie game The Path.

Actually, it makes me think of that indie game Dear Emile. (Though I suppose that at least had a form of survival gameplay.)

Yeah, I gotta agree with hating these sorts of trailers. They tell me absolutely nothing about the game.

Still... it looks beautiful.

So it's just a bunch of walking around listening to some old British man talk?

... That doesn't sound fun.

I can't help but get the feeling that this game isn't helping the whole "story vs. gameplay" discussion. That this game lacks gameplay almost entirely kind of reinforces the misguided belief that story comes at the expense of gameplay. Ugh, wonderful.

@Jaf: Yes. But I wouldn't describe them as "Walking around while an old British man talks," if that's the comparison you're getting at.

And the trailer does nothing to imply this is anything like an adventure game.

Unfortunately I have to give this game the completely unfair comparison to Myst because of similarities. You guys are better off tracking down Myst.
