I support the Renegade images. Or maybe Samson, but 90's anti-hero is better.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.I think the hair of Tarzan and Samson look more wild than badass. They're from a culture where it was far more normal for guys to have long hair.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.True. I didn't like the Tarzan images anyway.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. The image of Conan in #11 works. Has the advantage of not being yet another cartoon image, too.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI could be wrong, but doesn't Conan have Wild Hair, not Badass Long Hair? (the difference being that Conan has long hair because he's a barbarian, not because it looks cool)
What about Jean-Claude Van Damme: [1]◊ [2]◊

Well, both, which is why I think the above shows this trope better.
Van Damme works, but I don't think those pics are as good.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I understand why this thread exists in that the current Yuri Lowell picture doesn't explain why he's badass but neither does most of these suggestions. especially the Renegade ones. To me it just looks like a hot guy with long hair. Whether on a bike or just standing there. Not necessarily a badass. As would anybody that has no idea who the actor is or what the TV series is. Same goes for the JVD pictures only I think they are worse since he's sporting a mullet.
Then you've got the Conan pic which is no different than the Yuri pic in terms of context. Just some guy with a sword standing there. Only this one looks angry. Again it doesn't show anything badass about him no matter how suggestive. The best examples on here are the Tarzan and the mythology character fighting a lion. while the latter is questionable because of the hairstyle, at least a person can see it's badass (taking on a friggin lion by hand).
So before anybody starts picking images for the sake of a character looking cool, ask yourself if the picture even depicts the trope of a badass with long hair. Afterall there are so many Badass Long Hair guys out there.
( I'm also going to be extra picky about this not because I'm a Yuri Lowell fangirl but because of the conversation I had just last weekend with troper Deboss about image pickin' for the Little Miss Badass trope. A picture I feel does not do the trope justice, yet we covered the whys and how a picture should represent a trope or be changed if not good enough.)
I have no idea who the actor is or what the TV series is, but I think it's pretty obvious that the character is intended to be a Badass.
Will a crowner be thrown up here?
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.You think he's intended to be a badass but is that what the pic itself shows? Still to me it's really just a hot dude on a bike looking cool. Especially the last example of Lorenzo provided as they just look like model shots as if he were competing with Fabio. The one on the bike where he's looking away isn't bad but doesn't do much for the actual trope. A guy that's a badass with long hair. the Machete example looks more badass.
I think part of the problem here in general is a lot of these bishies don't look intimidating in a universal way that screams "badass".
What about what's his name from Lost Odyssey [1]◊
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!His hair is showing, it doesnt blend into the background and he's doing something http://s128.photobucket.com/albums/p169/Maphisto40/MAR/?action=view¤t=Alan-Smash.jpg&mediafilter=images MAR Alan

GATTAI!!!!That's why I'm not sold on the renegade pics either, though I like the concept. I think what we need is basically a picture of the inverse of a Hidden Badass (Obvious Badass?) who has long hair specifically to the effect of badassery.
Also, that Machete picture is starting to look really good to me.edited 23rd Feb '12 12:51:41 PM by Godnat
I swear to God there used to be a really witty sig here.Casey Jones? [1]◊
After looking through all the suggestions again, I like the current image best. He has the longest and most obvious hair of any of the images, and looks badass through his expression, sword, and clothes. I don't see why we need to replace it; it seems like all the suggestions have shorter and/or less obvious hair.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. The problem is that his hair doesn't seem to signify that he's a badass so much as that he is a samurai.

I'm still partial to the Renegade or Van Damme images, and think we should have something from a cultural milieu where long hair for males isn't the norm.
Jet-a-Reeno!Hmmm, how about the current doing something badass?◊

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThat looks skilled, but not badass, specifically.
Badass Longhair contrasted with several short-haired people?

Yes, the Tarzan one blends too much into the background.
