Yeah. I'm thinking I tried to do a Gash Bell / Nasu Verse crossover when really, it probably doesn't need the Nasu Verse part at all.

Because Pineapple Arms was one of Gaim's forms. It was in fact the first after the base Orange Arms form if I remember correctly.

Apart from the bow and arrow, all those weapons are in fact fruit based (for a very loose definition of fruit).

I would say 'that sounds kinda dumb', but my favorite series had all of the characters' names being puns of some sort of food, underwear or other silly stuff. And it somehow led to Super Saiyan Hitler becoming a thing that exists. So I can't even say that.

Shit, I even think it's kinda cool in an odd way.

An odd question, for a fic I'm working on that may or may not ever be posted, but how long do you guys think Saber(from Fate/Stay Night) could stay materialized for without a master?

Seems like she could walk around for pretty much forever, or at least the entire duration of the Grail War, considering Shirou was Shirou. (That is, the way she worked in Fate and UBW seems like like she has the equivalent of Independent Action Rank A. She couldn't use her Noble Phantasm without Master backup, but other than that, magic energy was basically an non-issue.)

That's not what Independent Action means. Epic spirits aren't supposed to be in the world, since they're dead, and the world is constantly trying to kick them out. Energy level has little to do with it. Essentially, a Servant without a contract is vulnerable to the world kicking them out, slowly fading away. The contract with a master acts as an anchor, meaning they only have to worry about the energy needed to maintain their body and fight. Without a contract, a servant suffers the doible whamm of having no energy to keep themselves tgoether AND the planent constsntly trying to delete them. Independent action means they have resistance to being deleted but NOT to not needing energy.

I meant her magic reserves had the effect of granting her an ability LIKE Independent Action, not that she actually had it. It's kind of like the difference between Eyes of the Mind (False) and Eyes of the Mind (True), they do the same thing, it's just that it comes from different sources. (False comes from instinct, natural talent, True comes from accumulated experience.)

Basically, it's like a guy with a long arm using a shorter sword. He has the same reach as a guy with a short arm using a longer sword, but he gets it from something else.

Though I guess I had written my question in a bad spot, since everything that isn't the last or first sentence tends to be forgotten. How long would Saber last, do you think, if she didn't have a master?

Not as long as you seem to think. Minutes at best, I think. Caster only lasted much longer before she met and made a contract with Kuzuki because she was within the bounds of the Ryuudou Temple's barrier, which is noted to make the encompassed area rather supportive of a Servant's existence.

I mean, consider the fact that Independent Action at rank E- (possessed by the soldiers of Iskander's Aionion Hetairoi), which is supposed to be an improvement upon having no Independent Action at all, only allows a Servant to exist without a Master for "30 turns". I don't know what "turn" exactly means in Nasuverse terms, but given all the RPG terminology in use to describe NPs, stats, etc., I would hazard a guess and say that a Nasuverse "turn" is equivalent to the amount of time that is required to complete one gameplay action, which puts it between a few seconds and a little below a minute, to put it generously.

Huh. Seems kind of contradictory with the UBW ending (not the epilogue) where it states Saber could have stayed in the world even after the grail's destruction because of her remaining magical energy. Considering the grail is stated to be the thing that's supporting the servant the most, it would seem like without a master but with a grail, Saber could stick around for pretty long.

Then again, this is Nasu. : /

[The following is many minutes after what I just wrote, I took a bit to reread caster's section]

It said that Caster normally had enough magical energy to stay for two days after severing the contract, but her master, being a complete and total prick, limited her magical energy to the barest minimum. So it's not a matter of everyone being fucked, but rather, Caster specifically was being fucked in that circumstance.

Assuming Saber started out with a max reserve of A in comparison to Caster's A+, I think she'd last around a day.

She stuck around after UBW because she had a contract with Rin, who being a damn good Magus was able to supply her with enough magic to stick around. Or that's how I understand it anyway.

That's the epilogue, I meant the actual ENDING, the part where she blasted the grail and disappeared.

Edit: And, well, yeah, Saber could stick around with Rin (with Shirou backup) acting as mana battery. But it seems like the Grail was doing most of the job before then. Cause even Shirou could support Saber while the Grail War was going on, albeit at an impaired state, and he's fucking Shirou. This is especially obvious right before the end, since Rin could supply magical energy (I'd call it mana, but Nasuverse has prana D:) to both Saber and Shirou for excaliblast and limited blade works. (Limited because it's not UBW. *Is shot, but had protection against arrows: rank A*)

Saber with Shirou as her Master had to eat a lot to compensate for the lack of mana supply. And yes, I know that she's a Big Eater in the first place; it's just that her circumstances gave her a serious reason to be a Big Eater, whereas normally she just eats because she has a huge apetite and loves good food like Shirou's (Arthurian Britain's cooks were horrible compared to him, which isn't surprising actually).

On a separate note, would Illya know how to read? I can't imagine it's something the Einzberns would've taught her. (Unless you need to know how to read to do magic or something. Although even then, Illya wasn't taught as a magus.)

Knowing how to read would be something that she'd kind of absolutely need if she had to ever look up anything in a book. It'd be inefficient to have her maids read out to her. I dunno about Kanji, though...

But you forget the Einzbern's are utterly incompetent.

I could almost picture them not teaching Illya to read for one reason or another.

Hell, now I'm convinced that the reason Homunculi can have such varied life spans isn't because that's just how it is, but because the Einzbern's are too incompetent to fix the problem.

• Kabuto(before getting Itachi'ed).

Everything else(aside from the setting) is trash.
