I want to propose something along the lines of Dueling Canons.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I like it.
Not sure a rename is necessary, though. Are we talking misuse on the wiki itself?

Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffIt was being used in a shipping war on The Fairly Oddparents page which resulted in some baninations. I've also seen it used as a rude "I'm right, suck it!" edit reason. It gets the most use as flame war ammunition on discussion pages. (Probably forum threads too.)
Part of the title should probably indicate that the works official authors are fighting. Dueling Canons still sounds like it could be used as "My fanfic is Better Than Canon!"

Okay, but I'm not sure how a rename would help against that.
I rather like this title. Maybe it needs a link somewhere to battleships armed with cannon, but otherwise I'm not yet convinced there is a problem here.
We actually do have an image like that for Ship-to-Ship Combat, heh.
Dueling Canons could also mean differing continuities. This is infighting among the same continuity.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I think Infighting Of God or Creator Canon Crossfire work better to get both the canon and disagreement of authors aspects in simultaneously.
Edit: And yeah, I always thought this was when two fan groups got into an argument and one pointed out that their ship is canon or whatever, so I'm thoroughly confused...

"Shit, our candidate is a psychopath. Better replace him with Newt Gingrich."Bump. So are we renaming the page?
The thread has discussion of new names, but no solid reason to rename. I don't think renaming would solve the problem anyway; the nature of the trope is what causes the OP's issue with it, not the name.
We're not just men of science, we're men of TROPE!I agree with the name change; it was confusing to me too, especially with the picture on the Ship-to-Ship Combat. I support the name Creator Canon Crossfire since it gives a nice visual image of the trope.
People don't get what they deserve; they just get what they get. - Gregory House -Unless someone points to clear evidence of consistent misuse, I can't really agree with a rename.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Yeah, other than a few bad potholes, I'm not seeing a problem. Though that would be a great redirect.
"Dueling" would imply it's two-sided.
...And even I make no pretense Of having more than common sense - R.W.WoodClocking due to lack of activity.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Bumping for votes.
Also, "Armed with Canon" sounds like a Shipping Trope that it uses Canon to justify a 'ship in a shipping war rather than what this page is about.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBumping again for votes.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Why two votes? Until there's a better name on which we can agree, we risk running into "Okay, let's rename!" "To what?" "Huh... Duhhhhh..."
...And even I make no pretense Of having more than common sense - R.W.WoodThere are suggestions right at the top of the thread. Dueling Authors, Dueling Creators etc.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI probably would prefer a name like Dueling Canons just because it's a little more clear, but the current name's working well enough, so, meh.
Coming to this, has anybody done a wick check? The current name has nothing whatsoever to do with the trope, but there is no wick check here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYes, but still no more accurate variants.
Yeah, but these are still shot at (sorry)
Anyway, "dueling" implies two-sided, as opposed one of them suddenly starting on an off-track into tangled wilderness. Which is the case at least as often as not.

...And even I make no pretense Of having more than common sense - R.W.WoodOnly thing I could think of here would be Canon Edit War or Creator Edit War or War Between Creators.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCalling crowner. Lack of consensus.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerCalling crowner; no consensus to rename.

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
Ok, Armed with Canon is about when different authors are changing canon to override each other, but there has been some tendency for people to use it as "The author agrees with my ship/fanon/who would beat who in a fight, so I win and you lose, look at how big my e-peen is, hah hah!"
I'm proposing a rename. I've thought of Dueling Authors, Infighting Of God and Creator Canon Crossfire, but I'd be keen on other suggestions.
