I assume one was supposed to list Cosmic Horror/Cthulhu tropes and the other was supposed to list Did You Just X Cthulhu snowclones. Those are different lists - the snowclones have to do with unexpected interactions with the very powerful; these powerful may or may not have anything to do with Cthulhu-like creatures.
As it stands, they're functionally identical. I say that they can be merged.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick(The basis for my opinion on where the merge should be is that Lovecraftian Tropes makes me think of 'tropes used by HP Lovecraft himself', and that I don't care to promote his overshadowing the rest of the genre any more than I would support the fantasy index being named Tolkienian Tropes.)
(Not that I generally like Cthulhu, but in this case it's the lesser of two horrors.)

The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable^^ That's what I assumed too, but it's not what they are. They're both "Tropes common to Lovecraftian-style Cosmic Horror Stories".
I support the merge, but think the name should be Lovecraftian Tropes rather than Did You Just Index Cthulhu?. That name should be used for the tropes using the naming convention "Did You Just X Cthulhu?" and their related tropes and subtropes. Those tropes rarely occur in true Cosmic Horror Stories.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it....if it were up to me, I'd rather have an entirely new name than keep Lovecraftian Tropes.
Also, I was told the other day that search-generated indices were frowned upon. Wouldn't that include a Did You Just X Cthulhu list?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableDid You Just Index Cthulhu? has always seemed like a search-generated index to me, at least.
Agree, Did You Just Index Cthulhu? is a Search Generated Index.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.But there is a theme in them. It's that things happen to great and powerful beings.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. So, how is the merge proposal to proceed?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI agree with the merge, search-generated indices aren't useful.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Hooked a merge crowner.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI strongly oppose the merge.
Lovecraftian Tropes are those tropes common to a genre the Cosmic Horror Story.
Did You Just Index Cthulhu? tropes are just as likely to appear in works outside of that genre, and some cannot appear within that genre; if you can punch put Cthulhu or have tea with him, or give him indigestion, or romance him, it's not a Cosmic Horror work; it may be Lovecraft Lite, but it isn't even always that.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'd like to rename Lovecraftian Tropes to Cosmic Horror Tropes.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. That's a good point, but I don't see why we need an index of all tropes that happen to have "cthulhu" as part of their name.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Support a rename to Cosmic Horror Tropes.
Make a new thread for that. This thread is about the Did You Just Index Cthulhu? page, not Lovecraftian Tropes.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Actually, I created the thread to be about both of them (I support either a merge or a clean-up and rename, since as they are/were they are/were indistinguishable). The software forced me to choose only one to link to in the headline, though.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableCalling crowner.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickTook a stab at reorganizing. Anyone want to take a look and double-check?

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
I propose a merge to Did You Just Index Cthulhu?, possibly retaining Lovecraftian Tropes as a redirect if it seems necessary.
