It's currently set up so that only superpowers can use it. I think we should expand it to all cases, with Readings Are Off the Scale being a close relative.

I think that the meaning of the phrase as an effect on people with hypersensitivity, such as people on the autism spectrum, should become part of the description.

[up][up] "It's currently set up so that only superpowers can use it" I think that is not true. It is a tactic against those with Super-Senses: "Senses keener than those of a human. Origins can be genetic, natural, supernatural, or cybernetic." Can be more explicitly inclusive of stuff besides bona fide super powers.

[up] I think unassisted humans, regardless of what disorder they have, can't really be superhuman.

Does the wiki have a trope/supertrope for deliberately overwhelming non-super senses?

[up] No, it doesn't. I think this is missing supertrope syndrome in action again.

Does the super sense aspect have any real difference beyond being an effective Weaksauce Weakness?

Why does this have to be for someone with Super-Senses? I don't see any reason why it couldn't be expanded to include normal senses as well. Stuff like flashbang grenades are deliberately designed to induce Sensory Overload in normal people. Hell, we even have a subtrope for it that doesn't specify people with Super-Senses: Blinded by the Light.

Agree with expanding to "overloading any sense", maybe point out it is particularly common with Super-Senses.

So, we seem to be in agreement that it should be rewritten to be broader. Given that, I'm going to do a quick rewrite.

I think the supersenses thing is a valid subtrope because it tends to be done in ways that wouldn't overwhelm anyone else and it tends to be played just a hair different. It also tends to have a lot of Blessed with Suck connotations.

I think it might also work better if you lumped in other not-normal sensory overloads. Might also be related to Alien Catnip if they react to a specific smell or something. I would suggest the various "dog" examples currently on the page be left here though. Should the trope be re-YKTTW'd?

I think that the broadened trope should propbably go through to pick up examples for the new definition. Should we expand, or supertope.

I'm good with Sensory Overload as it is now. I don't think that the super-sense version really needs to be spun off into its own subtrope — it's played exactly the same way, it's just more specifically targeted.

Well, the part that would make a distinct subtrope would be the aspect of only targeting the person with super senses.

Edit: YKTTW.
