Yeah, we can do much better than this.

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Seconding the pull.
Thirding.
Hm, lots of dismemberment in Star Wars, some of it even plot-relevant.
Hm.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That TESB pic, combined with Luke's reaction shot, would be great.
I'll get a couple screenshots of Cruzkowa from Stand Alone Complex. Her right arm gets pulled off while she's trying to escape from Togusa. She intentionally detached it because it contains a delayed bomb for self defense.

I just thought of something else that would work...if we can get a shot of Dooku cutting off Anakin's arm in Attack Of The Clones, that would work just as well.
Unfortunately, I don't think the film images above are that great either. Without context, you can't really tell what's going on in either the Star Wars (it's just a swordfight with a bunch of sparks) or the Evil Dead (man in an awkward pose reaching for a chainsaw) images. The Elric image seems to go more into Artificial Limbs, being more about demonstrating the replacements than the injury.
"One thing, though- apparently the eldest goat is the bastard child of Muhammad Ali and the Hulk." ~ Exelixi, on The Three Billy Goats Gruff.Yeah unfortunately the part where it's clear what he's doing with the chainsaw is off-camera.
Also the newer Star Wars movies may have better shots of hands or arms getting cut off than the original trilogy. The effects might be the only thing that are an improvement.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Anybody own a copy of Forrest Gump? Maybe get a screenshot of that first image of Lieutenant Dan in the hospital?
There's also this guy◊. Too graphic?
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.Lt. Dan in the hospital.
Lt. Dan struggling to get on top of his wheelchair.
Lt. Dan in church.
Lt. Dan staring at the ocean. I particularly like this one, but not necessarily because it depicts the trope best. But hey he looks pensive and everything.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
I do think it depicts the trope best.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Ah. Good, then. I support that one as well.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I support either the first or last of the Lt. Dan pics. I think the first one is probably the closest to the trope, but the last one is a great picture in general, and shows the trope fine.
"One thing, though- apparently the eldest goat is the bastard child of Muhammad Ali and the Hulk." ~ Exelixi, on The Three Billy Goats Gruff.Oh, yeah, you're right, the first is good also. In those two it's clearest he lost his legs. The first says an itty bit "and this is important to the plot", but not enough to overcome how much better an image the last is.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Either the first or last Lt. Dan pics are best.
I like the last Lt. Dan pic.
Anyone else?
The last Lt. Dan picture works for me.
"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeHave we got consensus to change to the last Lt. Dan pic now*?

"One thing, though- apparently the eldest goat is the bastard child of Muhammad Ali and the Hulk." ~ Exelixi, on The Three Billy Goats Gruff.I do think so. Caption? I don't see how this picture could benefit from a caption, but just throwing it out there.

And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.Oceans. As deep as his sorrows.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I like it.
EDIT: The pic is up, potholed, tagged, and the suggested caption is up...locking up.

The page image is about limbs being removed or cut off. The image is instead a picture of a petrol station with a joke sign. The joke isn't even a direct reference to the trope content, either (the 'First Born' bit and the fact it's on a petrol station sign makes it more like Deal with the Devil). On top of that, the picture is somewhat grainy.
I understand that we don't want graphic pictures, but surely there's got to be a picture which is within reasonable limits and demonstrates the trope properly?
