Motion to pull
J 2 FAAC, no waiter is evident.
You're taking the trope name literally. It can include any kind of service, including servants. We will likely change the picture (the replacement likely will need some dialog), but that is not a good reason to pull.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Keep Until Better Image Suggested. Not the clearest image but it's not so bad that it should be pulled.
Okay, lemme rephrase that - the pic relies on the caption to get across that the old woman is a servant...for all the pic shows, it could be a grandmother and grandchild.

Yes, I agree the caption does most of the work. I say keep until something better comes along, but it's definitely not that good an image (and I put it there).

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I'm going to second the pull; there's no indication at all in the picture that the woman is a servant, or that the child is even being nice to her.
Reaction Image RepositorySupporting the pull. She looks more grandmothery than helpy.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanMore support for the pull.
There are no heroes left in Man.I'm gonna hold off on making a decision on this just yet, as we've got a few Keep Until Better Image Suggested votes in the mix.
"the pic relies on the caption to get across that the old woman is a servant."
I don't see a problem with expecting people to know how to read captions, and it is not like all servants are going to be running around in meido outfits all the time. Most don't, in fact.
Keep Until Better Image is Suggested.

I think captions should help communicate an idea, not do it alone.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That's what the official policy is. Basically the idea is that if you remove the caption, the image needs to contain some element of the trope that helps illustrate it. And in this case, if you remove the caption, I don't think the picture illustrates much of anything. There's no indication that the woman is a servant of any sort, or that the girl is even being nice to her. It looks like a girl and her grandma.
The image doesn't need to contain a complete illustration, but it needs to get the ball rolling so the caption can take it the rest of the way.

Reaction Image RepositoryThe fact that it looks like a girl interacting with her grandmother instead of a girl interacting with a subordinate servant is a point in its favour, not against it. It has the air of a familiar, friendly relationship, not a commanding, autocratic relationship.
Not being able to tell for certain that's a servant is definitely a point against.

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! This. The fact that she doesn't look like a servant can't really be a point in favor of illustrating a trope about servants.

Actually what I just realized is that this trope is about being nice to someone who you aren't "supposed" to be nice to, such as, well, a waiter. With that said I change my position to supporting the pull.
I've been looking for something with Batman and Alfred, but nothing on Google really jumps out.
Wouldn't count anyway, since Alfred is a Parental Substitute.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. This might need a two part picture, showing someone a jerk to service people, and someone being nice, as the trope does cover those who are nice and mean.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yeah. The point of the trope is that the audience can use a character's treatment of people like waiters, cable guys, doormen and more as a quick-and-dirty insight into the person's character. Bad people are mean to the waiter and good people are nice to the waiter.
We might be able to get away with a one-picture image if it's something along the lines of a truly famous, iconic good guy or bad guy treating an obvious servant-class individual in the appropriate fashion. Darth Vader force choking a snooty French waiter (that was in the original trilogy, right?) or Superman patting the milkman on the bck.
Clock is set.
Clock has expired. Locking as inconclusive. Please holler if you wish to re-open the discussion.
Just like the title say, it's Just A Face And A Caption.
For all we know, it's her mother who she is talking to.
