OK, was anything ever done here? New trope, cleanup, redefinition?

Can someone please explain how we should read the crowner results? "Split off" has the highest positive ratio so is that the primary result?

Yes. We go by consensus, not which one has the most votes. So the third and first options win. The second would have, but it's mutually exclusive with 2.

So, "clean up" means that examples like these:
- In Work, funny thing. [Don't Explain the Joke Explanation/details of funny thing.]
are gonna meet their maker? While examples where someone, in-universe, actually explains a joke, will be saved? (Ehh, reading the many-faceted description of Don't Explain the Joke just makes it sound like characters explaining jokes for whatever reason and with whatever consequences.)
Threads like these make me wish there was an Administrivia page which would link to relevant TRS/SE threads where sinkhole/pothole use of a valid trope has been voted undesireble... basically a Resist The Temptation And Don't Pothole Your Own Jokes To These page. Or perhaps Undesirable Troper Tics. Hmm, maybe the latter would be better. It could include entries on X Just X, And How, This Troper, etc.
At least Understatement, Incredibly Lame Pun, and now Don't Explain the Joke (?) would be there.

I'll start on the cleanup, but the fact that it has > 1800 wicks means I can't and won't do this alone.
Edit: Cleanup done from A to Ae. This list is long enough and misuse widespread enough that it will take a while.

Oh, I totally missed that. Luckily, the pages I worked on were either correct usage or really obvious misuse.

(Came across the trope in a Wiki Walk from an edit, and cleaned up some obvious non-In-Universe misuse.)
