Just some thinking about Yandere page image...: Yandere

I vaguely remember some kind of discussion a while ago about how the Yandere page image didn't really fit even though the girl in the image personifies Yandere. Well, here's a suggestion: Now that Mirai Nikki has an anime, how about someone does a split-image thing where one side shows a blushing Yuno on her date with Yuki, and another where Yuno is swinging an axe during the Sacred Eye temple massacre, or something along those lines? Just a thought.

[up] I fixed your tag for you (be sure and tag your posts in the format of Main/Pagename), and I think that for the most part when one image can be utilized instead of two, it's better. I don't know whether the current pic is the best option, but it seems solid.

To me, if the caption weren't there, I'd just it was just a crazy woman with an axe. Though I wouldn't say it to the person's face, I don't think the image stands up well on its own.

As do I. Much better than the current image.

I also like it. I'm voting to pull the current image, since there is nothing in that image that points to Yuno being a Yandere other than her holding an axe.

I think the proposed replacement is too text heavy. The current one works fine. Normally I'd say let's wait for a few more options and then do a crowner, but guys—there's been an IP thread for this page something like five times, and the current image has won more than once.

[up] I second the motion to keep the current image. It works quite well and avoid the text-heaviness of the replacements.

I wonder if the yandere trance might be illustrative. Not sure if you can see that she's being lovestruck and crazy at the same time...

No.

The current image is much better. And unlike the claims made here I believe the current picture perfectly shows the trope: "Why Hi there cute happy girl, what that behind your ba... Oh, Crap!."

We had a huge discussion about this awhile ago and a vote on the matter too.

Now if you want to try again that's fine but we'll have to have another crowner.

[up] But what that sounds like is Cute and Psycho, which is a different trope altogether.

None of the proposed images I think are any better than what we currently have....granted what we currently have is a girl holding an axe...she could easy be a Axe-Crazy chick and that's it.

The image doesn't tell me anything else that suggests Yandere specifically.

I'm going to say Keep Until Better Image Suggested

The current image is still better than any of the suggestions.

The current image is terrible and is aiding the trope decay with a number of similar tropes. Everyone who says they like it describes it in such a way that makes it sound more like another trope than this one. Mostly Axe-Crazy or Cute and Psycho, but aiding the confusion between the three is a con. Not a pro as people seem to be presenting it.

Yes, and the image would have been better if we actually showed who Yuno was acting Yandere towards, not just her holding an axe.

I don't follow the Mirai Nikki anime, but the OP's suggestion might have some merit if someone could screencap something more illustrative from the show.

Man I wish that this didn't have the fact that they are in Panties And AT Shirt or a piece of it would work well.

I still think that the image that is on Murder the Hypotenuse is perfect for this, but whatever.

[up]That could work on Yandere Love Triangle.

I would love to see the Yandere pic replaced...most of the arguments I've seen in favor of it smell of Fan Myopia to me, and that's an accusation I don't like to use. Can't look at the suggestions right now, though...

Is this still alive, or has everyone dropped the discussion?

In any case, I think that lichtspektren's suggestion works a lot better than Yuuno Gasai holding an axe. She may be the Most Triumphant Example of Yandere in the eyes of fans of the genre, but we can't allow Fan Myopia to take over and corrupt the tropes.

Plus, what if it is text heavy? All the better to explain it. I say we change it.

I definitely don't like the "yandere trance" pic...the texty pic + the next panel is alright, but just alright.
