Any suggestions on who I should play other than heavy? I'm thinking Cid, but would that fuck Cloud over?

Branch out a bit, man. We've had an assload of 7 as it is. Also, do you think you would have fun doing Cid? And by that I mean more than five posts before you get tired of him and start OOC-ing shit.

Personally, I'd go with your earlier idea of using Scout; I think you could keep focused on him and come up with things for him to say.

It's Cid Motherfucking Highwind. Of course I would have fun playing Cid.

I don't think I could pull of the Scout. There isn't enough material and dialogue for the Scout; Cid and other Final Fantasy characters have 70+ hours of dialogue.

Sure, just like Light Yagami. Don't pull that, I'm familiar with your attention span.

All this extra sceentime makes then complex characters, and therefore a bit harder to do. Cloud is really fun, yes, but he has an established canon, so I have to keep him in-character, lest I look like a nincompoop.

The Scout has a very distinct personality and is fairly simple and easy to play at the same time. He also has room for a backstory and even a name, so you can be a bit creative, too.

Hell, look at what Strigon's done with the Terran Ghosts from Starcraft. Just sayin'.

EDIT: Ninja'd. What Pyro said about running out of material. It's up to you.
