PARTY PARTY PARTY I WANNA HAVE A PARTY

Okay, a bit of an overhaul to Jeane's backstory.

200 years ago, Jeane used to be the daughter of a prominent Count (don't ask me to name names, I really don't want to dabble too much in canon affairs). He was a fair and honest man, and well-loved by his people. Sadly, as we all know, the good die young, and the good and powerful drop like flies. Someone had asked for the Count's head, and the Dark Brotherhood was more than happy to bring it to him. One of their assassins, a vampire, attacked Jeane on the side of the road one night, passing his vampirism on to her in the process.

Naturally, when you're the daughter of a Count, shit like that tends to get around. So when the same assassin broke into their manor weeks later and bled her father dry, Jeane was the primary suspect. Knowing sooner or later the people would need an execution to sate their rage, Jeane fled. Being the relatively sheltered daughter of a rich and famous public official and not some thief in the night, this went about as well as expected. Jeane was caught just outside the city limits and dragged off to prison, having basically given her confession trying to flee.

Luckily for Jeane, her bail was paid. By the Dark Brotherhood. Taking advantage of the situation they created, the Dark Brotherhood set themselves up as Jeane's saviors and sole safe haven from the hateful stares of her father's people and society's cruel persecution against vampires. The rest of her history with the Brotherhood you're familiar with.

Then things went wrong. Again. On an assignment to assassinate Riften's current Jarl, Jeane got into a rather nasty scuffle with the Jarl's court wizard. While she certainly came out of it looking prettier than the wizard, he did manage to spit in her face one last time before she took him to his gods. You see, there was a rather funky potion the wizard had been developing. It's intended purpose had been to simply provide the Jarl with a deeper, more satisfying sleep, but the wizard being the wizard, did not stop there. Oh no. He'd been tinkering with the potion on and off as a bit of a hobby, the end result being what could best be described as a Rumpelstiltskin solution. Which he splashed all over Jeane during the scuffle. Jeane abandoned her objective and fled, managing to hold off the sleeping draught long enough to find a small cave outside the city limits. There she hunkered down and slept. For two hundred goddamn years.

Naturally, things were a little different when she woke up. Generations had lived and died, rulers had come and gone, the Brotherhood was even worse than they had been in the day, and everyone she'd ever known was dead. Oh yeah, and there were motherfucking dragons now. But, despite all this, Jeane was more than a little bit relieved. Shitty as this new world was, it was still one very important thing. New. New land, new rulers, new people, new life. Tabula rasa.

Jeane took this opportunity and ran with it. She sheathed her daggers, bought a horse, and exchanged her Brotherhood garb for that of the Thieves Guild, putting her formerly life-ending talents to work picking pockets, bankrupting corrupt politicians, and generally acting like a regular Robin Hood (even when Mercer Frey explicity ordered her otherwise, a sacrifice she made on multiple occasions of her own free will).

Nowadays, Jeane is a little more outgoing, though still not really a people person. At this point, all the poor girl really wants is to leave her past behind her and just live again. This is why she will protect her secrets with her life. She knows what would happen if word got out. She's been there before, and she's not about to go back. Jeane still doesn't like to kill, although she'll do it if she has to.

[up] Explaining it would make it... less than funny.

Also, it would appear that gamerex 27 has been absent for quite a while. Although I hesitate to act prematurely, I think we've waited long enough. Is anybody else interested in getting this started as soon as possible? I know Paragon has offered to GM on some level, and I myself am fine with G Ming if it comes to it.

Anybody else in favor of getting the RP up soon?

I am as well. When i volunteered to GM, i meant 'collaborative effort' in the sense of being able to collaborate with players on different aspects of the game this is based upon. I don't know everything about it, and would like to make sure that i can gain understanding from someone that knows things about what i don't.

At any rate, if i end up running this, i may or may not need to take a week to craft a plot: My current stance on the RP and 'vision', so to speak, doesn't necessarily require one immediately.

I'm also in favor of us just collaborating on this sucker.

While we're waiting to get things started though, we should at least agree on some guidelines of what our characters should be. We all seem to like the Oblivion birthsigns, so that's a given, and there's the obvious name/age/sex/race/backgound, but what should we specify for skills and items? Are we just going to give everyone a set amount of skills they can excel at? As for items, is it just do whatever you want, or should we just give everyone some money, say 400-1000 gold to spend on gear by using the Skyrim base prices? If we did that, we'd just have to assume civilian clothes and knick-knacks are free, though.

Also, should we try to even out our characters a bit, or just leave it as is? Because right now we have a few normal Argonians and humans/mer, and then a vampire assassin and warewolf mage.

Specifically with Jo'Khaj, is it the issue of Lycanthropy that is the issue? I know he's kinda... everywhere at once, but i try to keep that in check. In terms of Lycanthropy or Vampirism, though, there wasn't any rule for or against it, so using it shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, i might just end up scrapping Jo'Khaj. Or retooling him a good bit. Not sure yet, we'll see.

[up] Too true.

I have alot of other ideas, though, so i'm not too worried.

At any rate.

Okay, so rabbit Rider, myself and if i'm not mistaken Daltar all have volunteered to GM. And we're all on Skype.

All in favor of GM trifecta? Alternatively, all in favor for someone specifically as GM?

Yeah, I'll vote in favor. Hear hear.

Oh, I wasn't saying they're bad characters, no need to scrap already well-written out flavor text. Rather that those of us with more normal characters weren't as cool sounding. Hell, the two of us with shadowscales with no/limited magic have an advantage in terms of sheer awesomeness from being water-breathing, poison resistant assassins able to momentarily turn invisible when compared to the Redguard and Nord who... have swords. It just seemed like we had to throw them a bone, or at least a magic sword. Actually, now that I think about it, I guess it was just those two who are a bit left out.

Sorta related question:

In Skyrim (the game, i mean), If one were to use a Bound Sword spell or a Bound Bow spell, would it be affected by perks taken under the respective tree of that weapon (like being able to zoom with a conjured bow) or would it solely be dependant upon perks relevant to that spell in the Conjuration tree?

Hmmm I can't speak for others but since the standards for characters on our party are kind of high I can easily scale my girl up without changing almost anything in her sheet and without giving her greater gear.

When it comes time for our non-changed warriors to fight they should just be more skilled than you first envisioned them as. My girl might not be in any guild and have only crappy gear that she crafted herself but she has survived with only that in the outdoors of Skyrim, all the while hunting werewolves, vampires, trolls and all that stuff. She is training and piecing together techniques of swordplay that are only described in books to become a warrior of skill and not only strength. She'll be fast, coordinated, with good reflexes and more than able to take a punch and keep fighting.

I imagine the other regular warriors in our party can do the same. Scale their abilities up a bit in your mind.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Yeah, chances are quality of gear wouldn't matter as much as it does in the actual game. An arrow to the brain is still an arrow to the brain, regardless of the quality of the bow.

Well, if I scale up Seh'ri's gear, that means I can also justify him being a much more experienced mercenary. Possibly the leader of a group, and not just a member. Then I can increase his badassitude quite a bit and give him some nice moves.

@ Gear: A general consensus has been arrived at on gear. Realistically, while better weapons are superior, they are not drastically more damaging. It doesn't matter if you stab someone with a steel sword or an ebony one, it's going to do roughly the same amount of damage. True, a higher tier weapon will cut better and such, but it doesn't do drastically better damage. One's skill with a weapon is far more important than the type. An adept level swordsman with an iron sword would most likely kill a novice with a daedric mace.

Armor, however, is much more effected by material. Naturally, the quality and material of armor has a big impact compared to that of a weapon. Protection wise, armor will scale similarly to in-game.

Where higher quality weapons come in, is piercing and bypassing higher level armors. While the damage output of two weapons does not very much by quality, the amount of damage that bypasses armor resistance does.

This may seem rather complicated, but I assure you needn't worry about it too much. Since this is a more free form RP rather than mechanical, it you players needn't much worry about the details. Just think of the realistic effects of arms and armor, the G Ms will handle the results in-game.

As for level of equipment, I'm going to lean towards characters starting with steel as the default. Dwarven is acceptable, but anything higher needs confirmation from a GM. I'm very reluctant to let anyone start at a tier above orchish.

Concerning PC "power level", all PC's shall be considered to be around the same "level", for balancing issues. Skills affect in which fields characters are superior to others. All characters are assumed to be around the level of a "miniboss".

Any questions? I'd like to put up the tentative start date as Saturday or Sunday at some time. Agreements or disagreements?

Agree with the timeframe, but I would like to request an exception on the weapon limit for Jeane, on account of ebony being more in-character than other materials. She is former Brotherhood, and retired or not, no assassin would simply throw away such high quality gear for a simple grudge, and they certainly wouldn't trade them in for silver or iron (regardless of the memories or reputation they may carry).
