I just hope Somber's sequel isn't as oppressively bleak. Seriously. I don't want any cosmic horror, no gratuitous rape, no hopelessness...
I'm almost stopped visiting Tv Tropes forum but I had to comment it here.
Finale was reminding me of Fallout Equestria so much.
And Captain Hoers is doing a sequel to Duck and Cover.
Does it feature Burt the Turtle?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.So epic pony wars being entirely possible is now canon.
It was, then it wasn't.
Time travel is weird yo.
#IceBearForPresidentBut that fact it conically COULD happen with just a small change to the past, proves that the same could happen with FOE. Just one small alteration to the past, and we get epic zebra on pony war.
Look, that's not how it works, okay? It's... look, it's complicated. I'll let the Doctor explain:
Umm, no, for time travel, this is actually very very simple, mostly because the point I am making has nothing to do with time travel.
The show just canonically proved that a situation very similar to FOE IS actually possible in Equestria.
And that has what to do with the only actual point I made?
Second, proof they were acting 'OOC' taking into account 20 to 30 years of life, most of which being done during a massive war please.
True, true. War, war never changes. But war changes people. Like monarchs who've reigned for millennia quitting in disgust because they can't get past their own guilt and shame.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Yes, yes, only you know.. with some actual reasons and far far more to it then an overly simplistic strawman like that. Again, care to back it up with actual evidence that was the full entirety of it?
LOL no. I really, really don't care to do that.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Guys, guys. I think we can all agree that the real lesson is that Twilight can be nerfed, idiot balled, or (not actually seen here, but elsewhere) crazied hard enough to justify anything. Except there's basically no way she'd work to support a war in a way that could directly kill anyone, even if it meant saving the lives of everyone in Equestria. And the second there was a rumor of a possibility of a fleeting chance some vague, contingent benefit for someone might, if her enemies are completely trustworthy, exist, she'd push for immediate surrender.

Once again, proof? Cause, that ain't what she actually did.
Nor was any of this "Nerfing" or "Idiot Balling" or anything. Aside from her not getting it through her head that her friends did not know who the hell she was, or taking so long to work out that it being night, the castle repaired, and all the moon imagery probably meant Nightmare Moon was around.
There was a fun conversation here. It's gone now.
#IceBearForPresidentHas the era of the Great Wars returned to this thread once more?
"Come quietly to the dungeons of Canterlot, and I promise to leave the others alone." (Note that the part in italics was in a voice laced with sarcasm.)
"Why would she ever trust you?" (Fluttershy, who is normally the one who is overly trusting.)
"Even if there's a chance Chrysalis will honor her word, shouldn't you try?" <= Twilight, pushing for immediate surrender. Note too her facial expressions during this. It struck me as being serious, and there was a change after Zecora's response. It's not what they ended up doing, but I don't see a good way around her proposing surrender for no benefit.
Because she doesn't know the details, and is still rather naive to the whole 'war' idea. Also, clearly has almsot no tactical knowledge. Given that losing a leader as important as Zecora clearly is, and also the one with the most knowledge about how to deal with things would be ahuge blow to them regardless. It was a knee jerk reaction during a situation she simply did now have the ability to really think through given the whole, you know, not having all the details.
Versus one that has two-three decades more experience, and a far far more personal stake in things, as well as reason to have a more one sided view.
The two situations are not in the least bit the same.
You believe it's a blatant fallacy. I don't care about your opinion (or my opinion, for that matter) enough to comb through a doorstopper epic in search for evidence. Not to mention that you have never, ever changed your mind on anything, no matter how much evidence is brought forward. So while I may entertain myself teasing you, I would never attempt to seriously engage you in discussion.
That was indeed some spectacular idiocy. I have trouble believing that Twilight, utter bookworm that she is, wouldn't read enough history and fiction to know better. Heck, even game th-oh! She was a victim of [[https://wiki.lesswrong.com/wiki/Pascal's_mugging Pascal's Mugging!]]
