So, Heavy Object anime is coming. Good news for me and the other 2 people in the world who read the series. The voice acting sounds good, though i'm hoping the animation gets a bump for the actual release.
I've read the manga version of this and I thought it was reasonably good, didn't think it would get an anime though.
Nice. Is there a date for when to expect it or just the PV?
Don't believe there's a date, it was announced at Kamachi's big party thing.
Actually they showed a bunch of Index music and stuff just before, everyone got really excited for S3 and now everyone is bummed. It's kind of hilarious.
Is Heavy Object good? I'm not a huge fan of Index
It's got very little in common with Index, as far as I can tell.
It's a mecha series where our heroes aren't mecha pilots and never will be, and yet between the two of them they've managed to earn a larger kill-count than most aces.

It's exactly like Index in every meaningful respect, just replace "cheating magic" with "ridiculously huge robots". The same sort of character dynamics, the same sort of overly-clever-except-not expositing, the same always complaining while being heroic protagonist... And of course romance is defined entirely as girls abusing guys for looking at other girls.
If you dislike Index, nothing here will change your mind.

So the anime starts Friday and is apparently slated for two cours. Who here is excited?
[INTENSIFIES]
It will at the very least be entertaining, with all the caveats of Kamachi's writing. Also, drink every time someone goes into exposition mode!
OH GOD WHY AM I A CAR!? - ForzareWould you look at that, something worth watching this cour.
Finally.
I can't stand Shonen. That's why I watch Real Robot Genre.
It's a parody, though....
Plus, Shonen is a demographic, not a genre.

Watch SymphogearIf you don't like shounen, I don't think you're going to care for this
Well, I did enjoy Index, if that's what you're implying.
Then you really need to reconsider your previous statement. Index is Very Shounen
Sure didn't feel that way.
I just have one question... how many lolis are in this?
Hope not more than a single Token Mini-Moe.
I'd also hope for no more haremshit... but considering who wrote this and the era we live in, it's a futile hope.

This is a Kamachi series. You're placing your hopes WAY too high.
And Index was VERY shounen.
Episode 1 is out.
I love how much though seemingly went into creating the setting and considering what would be the repercussions of having such an overwhelmingly powerful weapon that renders all other forms of military obsolete.
I really like the main characters. The hero has really great dynamic with his buddy, with whom they are this kind of base troublemakers -, the Princess - who seems a nice, and well adjusted mecha pilot, that actually gets along with the hero - and even with their commanding officer - who is this type that seems strict at first sight, but actually has a soft spot for them and looks through the fingers at their escapades.
The episode did a good job building up their life at the base and realities of both the war at large and their daily life, only to at a wham note with the devastating attack of enemy OBJECT.
I have to say, I'm instantly charmed by this series, and I think this could well be the Anime of the Season if it plays it's cards well. Can't wait for the next episode.
No idea why I watched this, considering it isn't really my thing, but it was actually pretty good. Could've done with less of this◊, but other than that, should be an interesting watch.
Looks like the Heavy Object article can use a cover image.
Seconded. The protag is a twat. If someone is about to suffocate, help the person first, ask questions later. Who the heck cares about boobs in that kind of situation?!

Summary:In the end, war couldn't be extinguished. But, there was a transformation. Even in the heart of a worthless accomplice in murder who was indifferently continuing his task, there was a transformation. The massive weapon "Object". This was a weapon that changed the whole definition of war. An exchange student named Kwenser, who was dispatched to the battlefield, met at the base a girl with a strange aura. The girl, dubbed "Elite", is the pilot of "Object". The near future. This diminutive boy had come to take on the role of standing up against the strongest weapon "Object" for the sake of the girl. This was the motive for their first meeting.

So far I'm liking this series and it seem Kamachi can do a pretty decent mecha style series
