Given the fact she got hacked shortly after posting that video, my money's on someone trying to make it go away.

Which, fortunately, is impossible once the Internet gets its hands on it. One of the users said that s/he managed to download it and is currently showing it to as many people as possible at the hospital s/he's at. Presumably in response to the hacking to keep the story alive.

This kind of thing can't stay dormant. Part of me wonders if this is past the statute of limitations since this was back in 04, but either way, that guy's career is done for.

EDIT: Wow, a Google search has shown me that, evidently, this story is lighting up like a Christmas tree.

Does anyone have any update on the people in the Youtube video? Eg. has the daughter since moved away along with the mother?

I don't know what's worse—the parents mercilessly beating their daughter, or the borderline sociopathic fuckoff commentators who are trying to justify it as good parenting.

Yeah, digital piracy is technically a crime. But it's a crime that I'm almost certain the vast majority of people with internet access have committed, and it's really not a big deal. Then again, I can't think of many things that are a big enough deal to justify this kind of violence.

I would separate the daughter from both of them. They are horrible parents for abusing a child.

Apparently this was seven years ago, so hopefully she has found a better place to live by now.

beta: Apparently the mother had long since divorced because of the abuse, but the abuse continued.

I could stand to watch it, but it was difficult and it made me cry. Not sure if that helps.

Unless there is a statute of limitations or somesuch, seeing as that happened seven years ago... Really, frustrating to think about. This might make waves now, but that is seven years after the fact. And that was not a single incident, either. So for all those years, nobody helped the girl, while the father was a respectable judge... blergh.

Ok, there's really nothing else to discuss beside how awful it is. And how stupid the Youtube commenters are. And y'all have had 14 hours to talk about that. Which is plenty long enough.
