I love this show. We need more mature animated series that don't rely on raunchy humor.

Add me to the list of supporters for this show. The verbal abuse towards Allen's other dad is hilarious.

From the ads I've seen, the animation looks atrocious and like the type of thing you'd see on the Internet instead of a prime-time series.

Just saw the show, it was pretty good, the humor was nice and refreshing, I'm not sure what to make of it long-term but hopefully a good amount of episodes will make it better, the only problem I had with the show is Richard's blatant stereotyping, how they laid it on thick, then Jeremy's talk with Allen of how he was hetero and pushed into the relationship on a whim. I don't think that was necessary and kind of weird to bring up out of the blue.

Other then that, it was just... okay.

Yeah, I know what your thinking! don't lie I can see it in your eyes

@ at OP, didnt rely on raunchy humor? did you miss the whole

AG:"so whats it like down there, a total disaster area?(refering to her vagina)"

Principle:"think post Katrina"

The series isnt clever, its just unsympathetic assholes acting like assholes and getting away with it.

I definitely didn't like it, the main character is already the biggest jackass on the show and that's definitely not a good thing, and his lusting over the 60 year old principal is just fucking weird.

I might have liked it if the main character wasn't so unpleasant.

I didn't really like the show either. Not only the main character is an attention seeker Jerkass, but even the school's super is a prick towards the principal for no good reason. I can tell already that Allen's sister and the principal will be the only characters that will retain any form of sense.

And that scene with the principal nearly naked...*shudder*

Regardless of how it may look, the characters are HAND-DRAWN. They're just inked and animated incredibly stiff.

^ What is with the hand-drawn distinction? It's not like Flash animated series just materialize the images out of thin air.

No, but many people have set impressions on what Flash animation looks like, and it's good to keep reinforcing the idea that this is not true. Just on this thread alone, someone said the show looked like "the type of thing you'd see on the Internet".

The best non-Mac Farlane/non-Jean (I don't consider The Simpsons Groening any more, since Jean has written and show run at least one episode every season,he's run more than half the seasons and he never truly brought The Simpsons back from Season 11) thing in a long time (Since King Of The Hill actually)

It's definitely better than Bobs Burgers so far, though that could change. For unlike Bobs Burgers,it actually is somewhat funny and doesn't either A) Stuff in random Pop-culture references from yesteryear [The Simpsons] B) Throw in one-liners [Bobs Burgers] C) Attack political sides all the time without a break (American Dad) or D) Throw in disgusting 9/11 jokes and hit the Uncanny Valley with anything related to abuse (Family Guy)

Maybe the guy is a JerkAss but so was Cartman originally. I say give it the benefit of the doubt, same with Bobs [though that one has far more to prove]

Though personally I don't think it's gonna get better until Napolean Dynamite:TAS comes into the fold.

Ugh, I'm not hoping that this show will become popular, but it is interesting to see a new, decent animated sitcom other than the mainstream ones.

I don't see the problem with the main character being a Jerkass. Isn't that the point of him? Cartman's character is that he's a bad person, and we enjoy him for that. Why can't the same principle apply to Allen Gregory? I can see the show having rather a lot of potential, and I quite enjoyed the way it was animated.

Metropolis Life, having not seen the show, my best guess is that seeing characters whose humor is derived from their being mean is getting tired to some people. I know I'm not a big fan of jerkass characters. It's gotten to where it seems like lazy writing for me even if it isn't.

Again, haven't seen this particular show. But just throwing in my 2 cents.

I need a couple more episodes to make a determination on this one. The only saving grace for me was the sister.

I think, as formingbabby said, the jerkass traits in fictional characters is probably being overplayed and portrayed in a way to the point where it's not even that funny anymore. Characters like Peter Griffin and Cartman are, sometimes, still seen as funny today because everything they do is so over the top while having other qualities to them that flesh out their character a bit. Allen's jerkassery so far is being seen as an attention seeking jerk for the sake of being one while looking like a total snob and from what I seen, that's all I saw in the Allen character.

Granted, this is only the pilot episode so things can change, but first impressions are always hard to dispel in most people.

Watched last night's episode and still can't quite get into it. The bald dad (don't remember his name) seemed to be an even bigger jerk than the episode before it and the whole fiasco about the sex tape was just "huh?"

Haven't seen it. Probably won't.

Supporting it anyway. Anything that's one step toward gettin' Mc Farlane and Simpsons, aka, Fox's pollution off the airwaves for the sake of variety, or simply more intelligent and less raunchy/tacky humor is alright with me.

It'll be a long and hard fight, but worth it in the end. This is only the beginning...
