It is one of our largest causes of misuse and the one that's most likely to stay clean after the fact. This currently has a lot of that misuse. Maybe we should make Sandbox.Broodmother (Since it's not always monsters. Sometimes it's friendly sapient races.) and move the misuse there as a start to a YKTTW.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOn the subject of alternative names: How about Monster Of A Myriad Monsters, to balance the magnitude with Added Alliterative Appeal? "Myriad" is ten thousand, BTW.
Then where does this leave this trope?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.A subtrope of that. Hopefully with less misuse.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAbout what, though? Just "creature gives birth to different creatures/monsters that are (almost always) unique and not the same 'species' as their parent"?
BTW, where does Explosive Breeder fit in all of this?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. If this is limited to when offspring are a different species, does that make it too narrow to really have many examples?
Anyway, Broodmother or Queen Bee (a female that is the mother of most of a species or population) should be a trope, but it's separate from this one.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Explosive Breeder is any race that reproduces quickly. Not one individual being the only one giving birth to hordes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSo, to be clear: Broodmother will be a creature that births legions of one kind of monster, while Mother of a Thousand Young (whatever we rename it to, obviously) is a creature that births many different types of monsters. They can occasionally overlap with Monster Progenitor or Monster Lord.
And in regards to , I would call them sister tropes more than super- and subtrope, myself. Maybe we need a supertrope for creatures who's primary purpose is for breeding. Or would that just confuse the hell out of everyone?
We might be missing a trope for "a character, monster or not, that (nigh-continuously) gives birth to legions of offspring, much more than is normal for her species".

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
Ya know Shimaspawn have this thing called YKTTW, so that's an easy fix.
Just YKTTW a trope for "Monster Broodmother" or something
