At least some of the other 3D games have buttons you can press to line yourself up.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYeah. It's a real pain. But hey, it's 10 years old.
What amazes me is that the graphics have held up so well. It's because they're cel-shaded. They still look beautiful. Mind you that the PS 2 $10 titles on PSN are not HD remakes.
So, I got A Tale of Two Towns...
...and I'm going to pretty much blind-run it. No walkthroughs, nothing but the manual and maybe some resetting if a day doesn't go too well.
I've had some experience with Friends of Mineral Town... which didn't go so well when I tried to blind-run that (I eventually resorted to guides). I suppose I shall see if anything is different this time around...
I actually blind-ran most of More Friends, only using a guide later for rival marriages. Unfortunately, it meant Cliff left, but my chosen bachelor was easy to get anyway because he outright tells you what his favorite item is in his first heart event.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaHmmm, I've never done a blind run of Harvest Moon before because I was too impatient/lazy to find out what everyone liked. Also, recipes.
I might, though, as a challenge when I get Two Towns.
"Without a fairy, you're not even a real man!" ~ Mido from Ocarina of TimeOh wow I thought this thread was dead. Asking the person playing tale of 2 towns, when you finish it will you tell me if its good? I need a birthday present for my sister!
Uh, I might not be the best person to ask, just so you know. First of all, I'm male. Second of all, I have a certain degree of interest in the dating sim aspect that your sister may or may not have.
(Then again, I actually like Princess Debut, so I actually might be the best person to ask...)
I like it so far, but I'm still only a bit over a week in (not including the fact that I restarted the game about a week in, due to deciding that I had done one too many stupid things). I'll give you a more comprehensive review once I get married.
No, no she loves the dating sim aspect allot. Shes drifted away from the games to the sims, so I wanted to get her back into them
Oh, then I might very well be the right person to ask about this. This... is troubling for me...
Anyways, I do have to say, as of now I would not go for the 3DS version: it apparently has a fair amount of lag and occasionally freezes up for many people, myself included.
Hi i'm Morningtar and I got into Rune factory by Rune Factory 4. A Nd my experince with it is:
- I looked into the game a while back while I was looking at the 3ds title's trope pages (around that consoles release) And I noticed that the female protagonist Frey resembled Miku Hatsune (And that there was an Expy entry pointing that out, though that seems to have been removed along with another entry comparing Forte to Saber). However I wasn't gonna get the game because of a minor resemblance to a character I liked (thought it does help), that and that it wasn't released yet
- Fast forward to a few weeks ago and my sister got into Harvest Moon at time. I think I suggested Rune Factory 4 to her, but i can't remember. Anyway she let me try her game a few times and the last time a I played I pulled a personal C Mo A by beat the dead tree, solo, with low heat, RP and and using all my healing items. In the meantime I found out bout a certain group of fairies.
- My sister had not let me play since for reason I will not explain here. Anyway I decided to get a 3DS and the game once that happened.
- Yesterday my family and I went to a game stop and got a 3ds and the game (I was luck for them to have a copy since the usual one we go to didn't have it according to the site.) I deided to way until the day after to start because Although I knew i played for less than a day total on my sister's game, I was unsure of how much time I've clocked in.
- Today, not only did I actually catch up to the progress I made on my sister's game I set up Personal Awesome Moment #2: Clearing the Forest of Beginnings and by extension the first third of the game on the first day. (in the process finding out that the forest of beginnings qualifies for That One Level)
Anyway I having a blast with this game. But I want to know 2 things:
- How long does it usualy take to clear the first arc of the game?
- how long does it take to clear the game proper (And by that I mean all 3 arcs)?
- Do you think that this 3rd arc (yes I'm a Spoiler Hound) is a postgame thing or not?
The main story is generally easy to clear; there's more of a challenge in leveling up your crops, earning your skills, etc.
The last Harvest Moon game I played was in a Gameboy Color...
Then I started playing one for the DS earlier, and it's quite different now. lol
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.I haven't played Harvest Moon since More Friends of Mineral Town. I say I like the game but Musical Melodies and A Wonderful Life have kinda turned me off of it. Whats considered the modern great harvest moon these days?
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Rune Factory
I hear good things about HM: A New Beginning, the one on 3DS.
This topic hasn't gotten a post in 2 years but I'm gonna ask here anyway just in case:
the Rune Factory page needs some work done. It probably needs to be split into a Franchise/ page for the whole series and a VideoGame/ page for just the first game, and it definitely needs to have example entries from the sequels moved onto the existing pages for those sequels.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeUnless I'm missing a previous announcement, the Rune Factory announcements in the latest Direct came out of left field. It's a welcome surprise, though.
I am so happy right now.
This song needs more love.I'm vaguely aware of hints that were dropped earlier. I forget the details but they were mentioned in a discord server I'm in.
Also hi, past me, that's not how Franchise/ pages work. VideoGame.Rune Factory is for the series as a whole, VideoGame.Rune Factory 1 is for the first game.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I will say though, I'm a little surprised that they went with Rune Factory 4 to bring over to the Switch. I know that it's the best-selling game in the series but I would have thought that Frontier or Tides of Destiny would be an easier sell to new audiences.
This song needs more love.Wait, Rune Factory is alive? Yay!

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I don't want to self-bump the main Harvest Moon thread more than I already have, but does the HM-style of farm/life sim fall under From Clones to Genre yet? There are a lot popping up but I can't tell if it's a standard Follow the Leader fad or not. I guess we need to wait a few more years.

Well, how many clones can you name?
Stardew Valley, Gleaner Heights, Moonlight Tales, My Time at Portia, Verdant Skies, World's Dawn... I know there are others as well.
That's true. It's more Life Simulation than Farm Simulation...
One thing I hate to is that you can't really angle yourself right. There's no grid system.
I never imagined I would miss the grid system.
