Heh, I can tell just by Toikimi's voice that he taught Rin how to troll people.

[up][up][up]The Tron Lines on Rin's forearm are her magic crest, not her command seal. Her command seal looks the same as Tokiomi's, and is on the back of her hand. @Liberated Liberator: The command seals can appear on either the left or right hand, or in fact on any part of the body according to F/SN. (Which results in an entertaining scene of Shirou checking whether Issei is a Master...)

Anyway, that was a pretty cool episode. I agree that Tokiomi and Risei orbiting Kirei was rather weird though. And Rin really started tsundere-ing at a young age, huh.

And the summoning at the end was pretty awesome. I think it's pretty standard now for the Fate-verse adaptations to have an epic summoning scene at the start. Though Fate/Zero goes a step further with the summons being shown in parallel.

Also, Kariya makes me sorry for him every time he appears. :( Sakura's life sucks pretty badly too.

[up]Eh, Tokiomi's not much of a troll. He's so straight you need a crowbar to get him around corners.

EDIT: Anyway, for the F/SN readers - I forgot, was it ever mentioned why Zouken himself is never picked as a Master? It's not like he doesn't have ability as a magus, although I guess him being old as sin and the condition of his body might have something to do with it.

^^ Zouken was one of the Grail War founders, so...

Also, he is True Assassin's master in the 5th Grail War.

'twas brillig.

[up]One would think that as one of the founders, he should get more priority.

And he summoned True Assassin by screwing around with the rules. The Grail didn't pick him as a legitimate Master.

To the best of my knowledge, none of the founders got involved in Heaven's Feel 1.

My impression on this episode of this brutish and awesome anime

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

fanboy mode off

THE WORMS!!! OMFG KILL THEM, KYRIE ELEISON ZOKEN FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!

entomophobia mode off

I haven't read Fate/zero, and it seems like it won't be necessary seeing this awesome adaptation that is currently running through my memory like holy shit.

That's why I want to ask for everyone to use spoilers for future actions in the anime, please, I'll do the same with any FSN thing I'll write from now on.

It would be even better if anyone wanting to talk about the novel would do it in a separate novel thread.

Great episode. Animation quality wise, it is eons ahead the original Fate Stay Night anime. It seems more dynamic too, so I won't get bored this time (I gave up on the anime out of boredom).

A question for who read the novels, is the animation doing justice so far? I know it have been only one episode, but have something gotten cut? Were the scenes well done? I ask to know if I should go ahead and read the novels or if I should wait the anime finish first.

Well, I don't plan to spoil actual story content, but saying what was in the authors notes and should be obvious isn't exactly spoilers. This is a prequel, after all.

Not everyone's familiar with the other Fate stuff, so mentioning that content is a spoiler as well. And, well, the anime goes out of its way to explain the background of the setting in the first episode (probably why it had to be double length) so you can't assume that the audience is necessarily expected to know this stuff already. So I'd prefer this to be a spoiler-free zone, to encourage interesting discussion of the actual anime.

There's already the general Type-Moon thread in the visual novel section if you wanna discuss the setting as a whole.

Fine, fine. But it should be obvious considering both the setup and who wrote the thing.

By the way, Arha, what did you mean by Saber needing to be saved?

I would assume he's referring to the fact that her emotional character arc doesn't get resolved, and the consequences of that. The fact that she's a character in the original implies that her journey is incomplete as of the prequel.

Oh. Well, that isn't very surprising is it? Kiritsugu doesn't exactly strike me as the kind of guy who meddles in other people's affairs.

Seeing this episode has really raised my interests in this series. Does anyone know where I can play the VN?

Edit: For Fate/Stay Night I mean, not Fate/Zero

Kiritsugu doesn't exactly strike me as the kind of guy who meddles in other people's affairs.

That's kind of a strange thing to think, given that he's apparently the kind of person who will blow up a plane full of innocent bystanders in pursuit of his ideal, whatever it is. How is that not meddling in other people's affairs?

[up][up]You mean where you can download it? Try Hongfire.

You can get the translation here. And the patch with the extra goodies from the PS 2 version here. I think the translation path includes the voice path, but I am not sure.

Btw, this episode alone is clustered with spoilers for the Visual Novel. Many things reveled so casually here (like Kiritsugu being Ilya's father) is supposed to be a surprise in the game.

Yeah, the whole thing assumes that you've either already played it or don't care about being spoiled. On the other hand, having played FSN makes this story more of a Foregone Conclusion since you already know the fates of almost everyone involved.

I was thinking about buying the physical game off amazon but then I saw the price....

Fate/Zero is a light novel, not a visual novel. So you can read it for free. I think Baka-Tsuki has the translation.

Well, technically, the fates of the Masters is ambiguous. They don't all have to die.

I didn't say they died, I said you knew their fates if you're familiar with FSN.
