Considering how many bands Todd has covered where the band was either super popular in it's home country, another country or an international sensation everywhere but the USA - yeah, I'd say Creator Provincialism is in full swing with Todd's OHW series.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceHe has on multiple occasions said he bends the rules on what counts if I am not mistaken.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaHeck even the Butthole Surfers fulfilling the Hendrix clause within the USA wasn't enough to disqualify them either (though granted his title card artist bugging him to do that ep for years may have contributed to it too)
Hell, the first band he covered (a-ha) werent technically one hit wonders either.
I'm having to learn to pay the price<looks up the page in question>
...WTF? Seriously, WTF? Who thought it would be a good idea to make that page? We got rid of so much Real Life stuff for a reason.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThe page is question is Zapruder Film.
And yes, it is offensive in some ways, but this is not really the place to discuss it.
Optimism is a duty. This was a good video. Everything But The Girl seem like an interesting band.
Also, I read the Twitter comments. Some of it is our tropers apologizing for what happened while the others are just bashing us.
So where should we bring that page up?
Optimism is a duty. It's already up in the TRS
And immediately closed, apparently.
Optimism is a duty. They are unlocked by mods manually. All new threads begin locked.
This isn't new. It'll get moved to the useful notes namespace probably.

Oh, I see, I was unfamiliar with how that works.
Optimism is a duty. The Hypocrisy Nod joke was great. Very interesting episode.
Joke? Why are you calling it a joke? You drew a picture of two dudes hugging and wrote "I love hugs!" on it.Todd seems a bit unreasonable about Everything But The Girl not wanting to put their relationship on display. I mean, if you see how those public celebrity relationships turn out a lot of the time... Yeah, I don't exactly blame them.
Optimism is a duty. For anyone wondering what's being done about Zapruder Film, head over to the relevant Ask The Tropers entry here (no idea how to directly link to said entry)
As for the OHW itself, I found it interesting this discussion within the comments about the lyrics (emphasis mine):
That's an interesting read, almost the exact opposite of what my first impression of the line was. I thought it more along the lines of "A desert with rain kinda stops being a desert, which would mean that you were changing your entire personality for the person you are missing now. Sounds like an incredibly unhealthy relationship."
I do prefer the interpretation where the sorrow of missing someone become's the defining feature to mine, though.
I think some amount of Poetic License should be considered here. This line is not about an actual desert getting actual rain. It is a personification of a desert that WANTS it to rain, but never gets enough to satisfy it.
Optimism is a duty.Look I just like it when Fridge Logic becomes its own Fridge Brilliance
EBTG are definitely a band that Needs More Love, so good on Todd for bringing them back to the surface. I own all of their 80s albums, and they are all solid. Weirdly, I discovered them during their smooth jazz phase (well, considering that video was in heavy rotation on VH 1 at the time, and kind of an almost-hit, it’s not that weird in retrospect).
EDIT: I mis-remembered! I actually discovered them during their Burt Bacharach Orchestra phase!

Trainwreckords idea: Def Leppard-Slang. An attempt to try to stay "modern" that just didnt work, and in fact, caused Def Leppard to be classified as an 80s nostalgia act with no chance of making a real comeback.
Hey speaking of TrainWreckords, the latest ep's up on Patreon now: Oasis - Be Here Now
He should take requests for Trainwreckords.

Does a one hit wonder really count when the band stays popular overseas? It feels a bit like Cultural Provincialism, where having a hit outside the US charts apparently does not count for success.
