"Toddstrodamus strikes again."

I feel like the Critical Research Failure section of that page is getting way too pedantic. Especially since that trope is supposed to be used only for common sense failures. Everyone wants a replacement for Did Not Do The Research.

I mean, the research-related pages are pretty much a pedant's paradise.

... Has there ever been a decent erotic thriller?

I mean I know the concept of Porn with plot seems laughable someone has to be able to pull it off

It's kind of hard for something to be decent erotica if it expects to be shown in public theaters.

If you wanted to be titillated, I don't see why you wouldn't just a watch porn than watered down r-rated sex; Especially in this day in age.

Todd is right, though. The “erotic thriller” subgenre was ludicrous from beginning to end. It’s just that some were ludicrous with style (like the Trope Codifier, 9½ Weeks, and the aforementioned Basic Instinct), but the rest were just ludicrous. The Wild Orchid films and the Sean Young vehicle Love Crimes are also ones to check out if you need a good chuckle.

Oh hey, look, Meghan Trainor.

EDIT: Okay, so I've never actually sit myself down to listen to that song, just hearing small bits of it in the background on the radio, but seeing the actual lyrics here...good grief.

Also, I don't understand how Meghan Trainor's incredibly flat, lifeless vocals are supposed to come across as cutesy. Honestly, it sounds like she can't decide if she wants to sing the lyrics or rap them.

Trivia I wish wasn't true: this review, released at the halfway point of 2015, is Todd's first review of a song released this year. In fact, he directly referenced "Jealous" and "Thinking Out Loud" in his Worst and Best videos for 2014, respectively.

Eh...not a lot of people have talked about this song, have they? Certainly not as much as "All About That Bass," anyway. If "Dear Future Husband" was about as inescapable as her first hit, then maybe it would have received some controversy.

I have to admit, considering how this been the song to make fun of this year, I heard it once a few weeks ago and...I have to admit, I really enjoyed it as a song. It wasn't great but it wasn't as much about the stupid, garbage, rapping, annoying bs, so it had some retro fun to it.

But I do like how Todd found an entirely NEW way this song's lyrics suck, beyond the embarassing olde gender role nonsense. It has some fun as music but lyrically this is probably the worst non-rap song of the year.

Speaking of disappointing new female pop singers, I hope he reviews one of Ellie Goulding's new songs. I know they might not be interesting enough but I am sooooo disappointed by her recent stuff. She can makes such great music and is so wasting her talents right now, it really bothers me. It's somehow way worse than any of the dance music she's been doing.

"Love me, love me like you do" *sigh*

I'm surprised he didn't do a double review (at least, yet) of "Love Me Like You Do" vs. "Earned It." I guess he just didn't have enough material to work with for either song and would have derailed the review with complaints about their movie of origin.

Hopefully, the charts will freshen up soon so that Todd will be able to find more Snark Bait. His next review will probably be either "Bad Blood" (he might be tired of talking about Taylor Swift, but he did state on Twitter that he hated the song) or "Cheerleader" (a song about to become massive by a guy who's unlikely to make a second hit).

Speaking of One-Hit Wonders, do you guys think Meghan Trainor wouldn't have been as persistent on the charts had "Dear Future Husband" been her first hit? MAGIC! did receive plenty of hate after "Rude" (another song about marriage)'s peak and has yet to chart in the U.S. again since.

I love the kareoke/instrumental version of this song because I am 50/60s doowop trash and I will latch onto anything that sounds superficially like that. It's much better without Treinors singing.

Because Trainor decided she needed to destroy her credibility further after "Bass" and "Lips". Listen to this to wash out the watered-down door wop, folks:
