[up][up]I can tell your a sports fan and that you dig the aspect what with your wall-o-text and all; but most peo;el coudnt give a crap about the people and only want to see violence. it's why most people dont give a damn about porn scripts, although the creeps over at the hentai thread can go on for hours about the socio-economic implications of the dartboard in Cutie Rape Face Tentacle Orgy #5-Desu

What? He's got a point. Some people don't care much about the plot.

That's why JustHereForGodzilla exists.

There's a good chance it exists. Like many other disturbing things.

I guess...

Now on to the more relevant topic. Does anyone think there would be sequel? If it does, I think it should be set on several decades later where robot boxing has moved to...robot MMA.

I remember hearing somewhere that Hugh was signed on to do more than one film, though I can't recall how many. Chances are it'll pick up right after the original story.

Right, yeah, in the second movie, Zeus's designer feels so dishonours by claims that he didn't really win, that the decision only went his way because he's the champ, that he puts his own money into remaking Zeus to challenge Atom to a rematch. His wife isn't very understanding about him putting everything he has achieved on the line like that. Meanwhile our heroes have basically put the fighting behind them but financial difficulties upset their happy ending. Kate from Lost is pregnant and just wants to put it all behind them because she doesn't like to see Jackman's character take the risks on high bets. Jackman's character had already lost all the money he got and is back to worry about Hey Its That Guy characters beating him up and yet Charlie still loves fighting robots and Atom. They basically have to accept the rematch but don't really have their heart in it until Kate from Lost suffers some pregnancy complications which leads to an emergency c-section. The emergency and new arrival brings them together and sets their resolve to win and they go all out on the chance to actually win the championship this time.

They get their arsed kicked because spending 7/8 of the movie uncommitted to even trying does not a winner make.

All similarities to Rocky II are completely coincidental.

Or they could focus the sequel around Atom becoming a regular in the circuit (the Zeus match was only his second in the league). A device is made for Max to control Atom while he isn't around while Charlie stops being such as a jerk.

*laughs* I love how it's the *fifth* Cutie Rape Face Tentacle Orgy -Desu.

Anyways, I loved this movie. It's like the poster child for Tropes Are Not Bad. Also, I really liked that Charlie actually was a horrible person in the beginning (instead of merely a Jerk with a Heart of Gold), because it made his redemption so much more meaningful.

[up]I liked how Max immediately found out Charlie sold him. It wasn't the thing that made them split two two-thirds through the movie, it was resolved pretty much instantly with "Wow, Charlie is a douchebag.

But...he's Hugh Jackman!"

[up]Me too! That was fantastic! Also loved how Max kept bringing that up over and over again.

I thought it was funny that he said he sold for half of what he actually did. Smart move that.

I’d prefer a prequel. Knowing sequels like to escalate things, the technology would probably improve until we hit the Surrogates I’d kind of like to see the first G1 fight for example.

The series seems to be Atom's story as much as it is Max's and Charlie's (not to mention Hugh is still on contract), so the next film will probably be a direct sequel. It'll be interesting to see how long our tiny terror can stay competitive as more and more robots get Shadow Mode and boxing coaches. On the other hand, focus may shift to the competitors as they try to overcome the new human element with better and better technology.

A G1-era prequel would be good in game form as simplifying everything for gameplay and engine limitations would be justified by the lower technology.
