Character Island

Scarlett twirled the knife absentmindedly. She considered giving them some of the belts from her straightjacket, but she doubted there'd be any need for them.

That was definitely something Lafayette had noticed about humans. They always insisted on having so many possessions. It was very odd to him.

Donovan simply shrugged about what they thought they need, "I don't need any supplies, I can handle most of my duty without those things, I'm fine."

"I FOUND FIREWOOD!"

Eli ran in with an armful of dry tinder.

"BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE FIRE!"

He retrieved his share of blackberries with one hand and started munching on them, using his tongue to spoon them into his mouth like a giraffe. Fruit was amazing. He loved fruit. Fruit was wonderful. Lepidopteran fairies loved fruit. AND THE JUICE TASTED SO GOOD.

[Whether Everyone Else Is]

Bryan looked at Eli with worried eyes from his position on the rock. People like him perplex Bryan. They didn't care what others thought of them, and there was nothing he could do about it. He left adults to deal with them, since there were more fixable causes anyways.

Bryan continued trying to contact the psychic plane again and again. It was like trying to get an Internet connection by standing on top of a table and lifting the laptop up in the air until his arms ached. He barely received a signal, just enough to produce a small trinkle. He sighed. He had to conserve his powers, so he decided to hide his cards, just in case people started to go crazy and he had to use suggestion on somebody.

Bryan looked for the nearest person. "Is there anything you think I can do, like look for fauna?"

Imey scouted slightly ahead of the group, and spotted... somebody in a cloak? The figure was with a woman with a strange rod of some sort. His group outnumbered them, so they seemed unlikely to be a threat. "You, there!" he yelled, and, as politely as one can while yelling, asked, "Who are you? Can you hunt? Fish? Identify plants? Build?"

Scarlett turned to Bryan, smiling just a little. "Thank you for volunteering, but it looks like we have everything in order. For now."

Then she too noticed the figure on the horizon. Another survivor? Just how many people crash-landed on this hellhole?

[Behind the Group]

Todd walked further along in the forest, and began hearing voices and movement.

Approaching cautiously, he saw a large mismatched group, apparently heading for the mountain in the distance.

They appeared to be comparing gadgets or something, as he heard one approach with firewood. He heard another call out to a pair standing ahead of them.

Couldn't hurt to see what the commotion is about, Todd thought, moving slowly towards the group.

Lafayette put his ear to Bryan, moving with the group, blanket still around his shoulders, hoping that maybe there would be more fish.

"You made a color," he said to Bryan.

Bryan turned to Lafayette, still feeling a little uncomfortable with his lack of clothing? "W-what do you mean by color?" he asked.

"Like a..." Lafayette started thoughtfully, looking straight ahead and then to the sky and back again. "Like a tszt. A color like tszt."

"I wish they made Copic markers in that color!"

His faze froze in a childish grin as he kept following the group.

"What does tszt even look like, anyways?" He raised the hand that had his blackberries in it to his mouth and pushed another yummy berry into his mouth with his tongue giraffe-style.

"I'd like to know as well." Her eyes widen and she slips her hand into Elijah's. As with William, she feels the need to protect him.

Might as well act like a child. Bianca's true nature would catch them off guard after the inevitable downward spiral into bickering and dictatorship. She smiles at this thought.

Now seeing as the group is off to look for caves at a volcano. Prisha decided to follow behind the rest of the group just to be safe. He preferred not to, but the truth is he had no idea how to get off the island and whatever force dragged them here wouldn't want any of them to separate. Following them seems the safest option for now, but for how long?

Prisha decided to stay at the back of the line and try to stay quiet long enough. Hoping he will once again go unnoticed. At the same tame listening in on the group to see if they could say anything useful.

Todd reached the group near the back, noticing the odd commentary about colors.

He approached them and said, "Hello. I'm sorry, but what's going on here? I seem to be lost."

Note: To other characters Todd's presence/appearance will appear somewhat unreal. Kind of like looking at a reflection in water that's not quite still, or a road on a hot day. This also extends to his immediate surroundings, such as the ground, for just a little ways.

Community is paramount in Uelane society — a community either stands united, or dies, swallowed up by the wild lands of Uel. Imey knew of no other way to live.

So when Imey, glancing past the discussion on nameless colors, saw Prisha fading into the back, he immediately grew alarmed. There was, of course, basic human empathy. He did not wish to see anybody die. But he also did not wish for anybody to alert potential enemies: bandits, slavers, or the soldiers of some empire, known or unknown. So he left the others to deal with the newcomers ahead, and floated to the back himself. There, he would watch anyone who might otherwise fall behind, by intent or by accident.

He spotted Todd then. Another advantage of keeping the rear. "Ah... another straggler." He did not see any reason to distrust him. Such paranoia against one as suspicious — if strangely off-looking — as this man would do him no good. He'd watch him, of course, but no reason to be hostile. "I am Imey the fisherman, and our group is attempting to find shelter. I take it you have no idea how you got to this island?"

"No. I have no memory of arriving here." Todd said, "In fact, I'm somewhat surprised to be alive right now."

He thought for a moment. "Truthfully, my memories of before this island are somewhat ... foggy as well."

"Nonetheless, nice to make your acquaintance, Imey. Do you live around here? Or are all of you uncertain as to where we are?"

The dark presence continued trailing the group, hiding in the fog of the forest.

After noticing the new guy from the back and Imey talking to him, Prisha turned to Imey and let out a deep long sigh, shaking his head, hoping Imey would know what that's about.

"Tszt," said Lafayette thoughtfully. "It's..." He gave a flash of a color in his field that could not be perceived in the human visible spectrum. "That. That's tszt."

Donovan continued to walk ahead of the group, anger in his thoughts, "How DARE that mere human insult my master. Such insolence from a mere mortal, who think he can go against a being that transcends time and space itself."

Donovan stopped in his tracks as he believe he felt a precense, but continued walking after a few seconds, but with a weird feeling of a presence around him.

"That's preeeettyyyy, Mr. Naked Person," Bianca says. "Wait. We're going to the volcano, right? Shouldn't we getting away from the very dangerous and possibly active volcano?" Bianca tilts her head to one side with an expression of blank curiosity.

"What were you a survivor of some plane crash too?" Prisha decided to ask the new guy.

His head moved rapidly to Bianca, like a bird. "What if red lava gets into our cave? I can't slashy melted rocks!"

"Exactly. So why are we going to the volcano?"

William is far more laconic and deadpan than Elijah, Bianca realizes. But all the same...

"It is a path to home," said Lafayette, "That's why."
