it is called Why God does not play dice? by Archnecromancer King. It is actually pretty short, but I think it is worth the time.

Another silly idea (why do they even come to me?) - NGE as acted out by Ranma 1/2 characters. As in, the situation and the jobs are from NGE, whereas the personalities, abilities and relationships are all from Ranma 1/2.
Take One:
Genma as Gendo, with Ranma as Shinji. Instead of being ditched to some relatives, Ranma was ditched to some martial arts masters in China. Nabiki takes Misato's role, maybe with less drinking, and Kasumi gets to be Chief Scientist (or whatever Ritsuko's position is called). Gendo-Akagi-Akagi affair is now even more rotten, or perhaps eliminated outright, as Soun becomes Fuyutsuki. Asuka's role is good for both Shampoo and Akane, I think, but neither fit perfectly. Akane can be assigned as Rei, for some flimsy excuse like "First Girl", or comparing Rei's quietness and traditional Yamato Nadeshiko (which Akane tries to be)... But I can't imagine anything other then severe emotional trauma being able to cut down Akane's explosive temper. NGE world is ripe with those, but let's touch that topic a bit later. Ukyo might look good as Rei, but she might look better as Kaworu. On the other hand, Shampoo can be just as unsettling. Touji and Kensuke... Well, the latter seems like a fitting role for Gosunkugi, while the former... Let's say Ryoga, because I'd better include him then Tatewaki, who has a real sister like Touji. Dr Tofu as Ryoji, Principal Kuno as Keel Lorenz. Happosai as ADAM, just because.
Take Two:
Shy and insecure Shinji? Akane. Brash and arrogant Asuka? Ranma. Emotionally inexperienced, easily manipulated, and having trouble coming out of her shell Rei? Ryoga. Although, others make a bit less sense in that case.
This particular crossover idea is extra ridiculous, because light and dark do not mix. If we go for "Dark", with emotionally broken Akane, bitter and hateful Ranma, Shampoo being even more destructive and slaughter-happy then in canon, and Ukyo being creepily androgynous in both appearance and attitude - well, then it's just another depressing story, cruel to Ranma cast and not contributing anything to NGE world. I wouldn't read anything like that, unless it was written by Durandall, or that guy who wrote Hill of Swords.
Now, if we go for "Light" - that would be a different story entirely. Bonus points if combat skills are less important for piloting an EVA then emotional integrity (and out-egrity).

Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.Shampoo could take Mari's role.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I vote "Light".
I just got my hands on a doujinshi where Nerv is a Cute Witch Magical Girl note organization (with a co-ed Mission Control and command staff, of course) in a Lighter and Softer setting. Oh, and apparently the Magical Girls/Boys need to undergo a certain kind of bodily fluid exchange for maintaining the stability of their powers, else they would end up doing extensive collateral damage (as Asuka does in the beginning). Don't you "Wha...?" me, I'm just descrbing it as I see it!
... Pfffffttt... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh God, this the first time I've seen this author go for actual humor in his Evangelion doujinshi instead of his usual heartwarming-vanilla tone, and it's priceless!
Anyone interested?
EDIT: Holy... Ritsuko and Misato cosplaying as Sayaka and Homura?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. So Gendo is Kyubey?
God, I'm now imagining Kyubey with Gendo's head tacked on. IT'S THE GREATEST THING EVER.
I personally find the idea of Lorenz Kiel as Kyubey also... very interesting.
@ Marq: Yes, please.
Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.Okay, The Nobody, check. Anybody else?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Sure, I'll take it.
Also, might be (EGADS!) working on some of my Eva fics again in the future. Just been distracted by TOO MANY THINGS......
Count me in.
Nous restons ici.And... Done! Let me know what you think of it.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Well, it's not like they were taking their premise seriously. Which is a little disappointing. Actually I think the most interesting thing they did was right at the end but before the cosplay shot.
Or possibly the assertion of a continuity and that Rits and Misato used to be frontline and are now retired. Now I have a terrible urge to do something about an Evangelion program that's gone on for a couple generations...
Nous restons ici.Heh, I laughed the most at Asuka's What An Idiot moment. Calling your commanding officer an evil old hag to her face? Just after complaining about what she was nicely asking you to do? Real smooth there, Asuka.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. It's sadly a very Asuka thing to do.
Nous restons ici.Alright, this thread has 666 posts. Death metal?
:P
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.Yeah, but no less hilarious because of it.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. This is pretty disturbing. :/
I'm going to bed, but I read a few lines.
what the fuck, Asuka.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.Asuka is... not really the problem in this fic. :V
I'll have to read it tomorrow, then.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down..... He's past the point of no return, isn't he?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I do see it like that, yeah... :/
I'm starting to think people enjoy torturing Shinji!
Wait, they do. :V
